SCORM is a set of technical standards for e-learning software products. SCORM tells programmers how to write their code so that it can “play well” with other e-learning software. It is the de facto industry standard for e-learning interoperability.
Specifically, SCORM governs how online learning content and Learning Management Systems (LMSs) communicate with each other. Please note that SCORM does NOT speak to instructional design or any other pedagogical concern, it is purely a technical standard.
The objective of this lesson is to to load and enable a SCORM file in Moodle and to see how it functions in the course taking page.
Attached with this lesson - you will find a sample SCORM file that can be used for your experimenation. This file is sourced from SCORM.com and you can use it for your educational and testing. In an upcoming lesson - I will show you several sites where you can get free licensed SCORM content - either to experiment - or even to use in your own course as learning content.
This is a collection of best OER resources across various sources. A wide variety of content and tools to implement OER in just about any course topic can be found.
Caution:
Most learning content is linear - this very course that you are going through is linear! You start at lecture #1 - and then progress through lecture #n - and the course is done. This is true with most products out there today - Udemy, Coursera, several MOOCs and so on. But the problem is that - this is NOT the best solution that is possible!
Welcome to Adaptive Learning with Moodle!
Even though Lesson activity is so powerful - it is probably the MOST UNDER USED activity in Moodle. There are a few reasons for this - mostly because the lesson creation interface is difficult to understand. In this lesson I will show you how to easily beat the problem and many more tips!
When creating Lesson, you have to keep 4 aspects in mind - the learning content, the learning path for the student, the assessment and the linkings that go with it.
The Lesson module is very powerful and complex. It can only be mastered with practice. Do this assignment carefully replicating the video lectures from this section and previous.
In the previous lesson - we got so far as to create an empty lesson shell. In this lecture, we will build out the whole lesson - with content, questions, and custom learning paths.
I show you 4 different examples of how Moodle will dynamically change the criteria for "automatic activity completion" in this lecture.
You will learn how to restrict access to activities and resources with a very useful feature of Moodle called as "Restrict Access". This was also called as "Conditional Activities" in earlier versions.
This feature allows you to set conditions which have to be mandatorily met - and only after which a learner on your course will be able to access a particular activity or learning resource. This is a very useful part of adaptive learning because you will be able to build elaborate logic as I will show in this lesson.
As the teacher and course designer on an online platform - your single largest challenge will be student engagement and getting them to achieve specific goals though you course.
You want your learners to get the very best results and value from your course. Just having fantastic content is usually not enough. You will want the students to ACTUALLY finish lessons. You will want them to actually study hard. You will want learners to ACTUALLY engage with your course - and when they ENGAGE, then they remember lessons better, understand better, and apply better.
Experience points, scoreboards and awards are the most common elements of games. The easiest way to start implementing gamification in your online classroom is to use a combination of "practice quiz and scoreboard".
Gameboards were a concept that started very early in arcade games - they serve to motivate gamers to compete more and more - and so greatly increase motivation and engagement.
Are you familiar with this screen - it is from an extremely engaging popular game. This screen is used to show the gamer's progress through the game. How far they have finished - where they are now - and what they have to do to complete the game and WIN!
