Description

Modern welfare has changed a great deal in recent years to try to curb opposition to its rising costs. The course deals with the changes taking place where the former cash grants have been broken up into several components. While the changes have resulted in greater adaptation to client needs, it has made it more complex and created more problems for both the government and the client.

In addition, there are other considerations. The development of generational welfare where the children are groomed to continue the dependence on welfare has led to the addition of time limits to welfare. In addition, there has been an increased realization that while Social Security is not a welfare program, it is part of the government’s attempt to provide for its most needy citizens. It has developed several different facets over time. While the original idea was well thought out, it has been raided to fund other programs by those who saw it as a handy source of funds for other programs and failed to realize the long-term consequences. Since then, it has faced the possibility of running out of funds with plenty of ideas for saving it but some that would be successful are opposed by many who seek only their own immediate self-interest without recognizing the consequences of doing nothing. On the other hand, some have proposed solutions that sound like good ideas but would actually do nothing to solve the problem. We need to end the rhetoric and act before it is too late.
