In this bonus video I show you how to reupholster a modern baroque dining room chair with a seat and backrest. With a finish of braid.
Thank you very much for following this course on Udemy. I have written a little novel about Suzanne who wants to become an upholsterer and start her own upholstery shop. I Know it's not exactly higher literature, but I hope you will enjoy it.
It's an E-book in pdf you will find it at the resources.
During this section I will take you through a lot of industrial
upholstery machines and tools. I will show you what they are and where
they are used for. These are my own tools which I use on a daily basis.
Except the tools I have, there are off course many more. So if I will
come across some tools or something that will be of interest for you, I
will add an article or lecture to this course for you.
I show you one more time what I wear during working...... you do not have to watch it though
A furniture dolly is very handy if the chairs or sofa's or any other object that will fit on it. It will prevend you from getting backache. And it's very easy to move your stuff around in the workshop.
You can always buy an electric table which are quite expensive. I have made my own one from an old hospital bed. The wooden top is covered with linoleum. It's a lot cheaper, but okay it's not electric so you get some extra free exercise for you legs if you need to lift the table a bit higher. :-)
There are a lot of different hammers around. Plus in different countries there are various shapes. But they do the same thing. What you may like, is to know the history of the upholstery hammer. Which you can find at the external resources.
These type of pliers are mostly used in automotive upholstery. There are various types. If you have an interest, you might want to check the website of osborne tools. www.csosborne.com
Further on in this course when I show you how to reupholster a tubular chair. These pliers become very handy.
Now, there is absolute no need to buy a tool like this. But I am very much into handy little helpers. You can also just use a pair of scissors. But for you who wants to know, mine is of the brand Robuso. There are various types for different purposes. So if you want to buy one, make sure it is suitable for leather, fabric and cardboard.

Most of my handtools are from the brand Osborne
There are more models on the market than the ones I show you here.
This set is from the brand Festool which is very good. A handset is a toolset which will be very useful during various upholstery jobs.
A scraper is not the most expensive tool, but it can save you a lot of time to get glued foam of your wooden seat.
With the stl files which you will find in the .zip file you can go directly to your local 3d print shop to have your decorative nail spacer printed. This 3d decorative nail spacer has been designed by Stof en Steen. Which is us. :-)
Sometimes it is difficult to get your thread through the eye of the needle. This little needle threader works really well. Check the pictures in the article.
These 3d designed templates by Stof en Steen are very useful when you making cushions. The STL Files are in a zip.file after downloading you can go to your local 3d printshop to have them printed. Or you may have a 3d printer yourself, or a cousin.
These templates become also very handy if you want a rounded edge at a sofa and you need a seam allowance. The ring has been designed so all sort of ballpoint, markers and pencils will fit it. You will find the STL files in the resources in a zip file. Once downloaded you can go to your local 3d printshop. Both have been designed by Stof en Steen.
