Description

Welcome to Migrating Servers to Azure with Azure Site Recovery.

This migration lab is intended for IT professionals who have been tasked with migrating servers, including Amazon EC2 instances, from either on-prem or from Amazon AWS to Microsoft Azure. This lab is also intended for IT professionals who simply what to add another skill to their resume.

This migration lab consists of 18 written lectures and 9 in-depth video demonstrations. It covers the actions that need to be taken to ensure a successful migration of an existing server to Microsoft Azure, using Azure Site Recovery. To demonstrate this process, we'll migrate an Amazon EC2 instance from AWS to Microsoft Azure.

Students that complete this lab will learn the following:

  • Deployment and Preparation of Necessary Azure Resources

  • Preparation of the AWS Environment for Migration

  • Preparation of the Azure Environment for Migration

  • Replication of an EC2 Instance to Azure, using Azure Site Recovery

  • Failover Preparation and Testing

  • Final Migration of an EC2 Instance to Microsoft Azure

Students that complete this lab in its entirety will come away with a complete understanding of what steps needs to be taken to properly prepare for a migration of an existing Windows server to Microsoft Azure. Students will also come away with the necessary knowledge for performing such a migration.

If you plan to actually perform the exercises in this lab, you'll need the following:

  • Access to an Amazon AWS Tenant / Subscription

  • Two EC2 Instances Deployed in Amazon AWS (instructions provided)

  • Access to an Azure Tenant

  • Permissions to Deploy Resources in Azure Tenant

  • Moderate Understanding of Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure Portals

If you don't have access to the items above, you can simply follow along without performing the exercises. You'll still learn quite a bit - and have something to reference when you DO need to perform these tasks.
