Create a recovery services vault in Azure to support migration, selecting name, subscription, resource group, and central U.S. location, then pin to the dashboard for later network setup.
Create a virtual network in Azure with the resource manager deployment model, a 10.0.0.0/16 address space, a compliant subnet for migration failover, and prepare storage account and recovery services vault.
Create a protection goal in Azure site recovery, specify machine locations and replication target to Azure, indicate virtualized status, and review deployment planning with the planner applet.
Prepare the source environment by installing the configuration server, the brains of replication and failover, in the AWS environment and registering it with the Azure Site Recovery vault.
Configure the target network and create a replication policy with a failback policy in the lab subscription using resource manager to prepare for migration.
Enable replication for on-prem VMs to Azure using Azure Site Recovery by configuring the process server, target network, and replication policy, then monitor the replication progress.
Demonstrates a test failover of a protected server to Azure, with prereq checks, selecting a recovery point (latest, rpo, or custom), and cleaning up after the test succeeds.
Open the recovery services vault, select the latest recovery point, perform the failover to Azure after shutting down the source VM, then complete migration and cleanup.
Welcome to Migrating Servers to Azure with Azure Site Recovery.
This migration lab is intended for IT professionals who have been tasked with migrating servers, including Amazon EC2 instances, from either on-prem or from Amazon AWS to Microsoft Azure. This lab is also intended for IT professionals who simply what to add another skill to their resume.
This migration lab consists of 18 written lectures and 9 in-depth video demonstrations. It covers the actions that need to be taken to ensure a successful migration of an existing server to Microsoft Azure, using Azure Site Recovery. To demonstrate this process, we'll migrate an Amazon EC2 instance from AWS to Microsoft Azure.

Students that complete this lab in its entirety will come away with a complete understanding of what steps needs to be taken to properly prepare for a migration of an existing Windows server to Microsoft Azure. Students will also come away with the necessary knowledge for performing such a migration.
If you plan to actually perform the exercises in this lab, you'll need the following:
Access to an Amazon AWS Tenant / Subscription
Two EC2 Instances Deployed in Amazon AWS (instructions provided)
Access to an Azure Tenant
Permissions to Deploy Resources in Azure Tenant
Moderate Understanding of Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure Portals
If you don't have access to the items above, you can simply follow along without performing the exercises. You'll still learn quite a bit - and have something to reference when you DO need to perform these tasks.
