Students will learn the importance and benefits of constructive conflict management. They will also understand the different ways of handling conflict. Through the completion of a questionnaire, the will understand their own preferred conflict management style
Students will learn the importance of teamwork in organizations, including cross functional and virtual teams. Learn the process for building effective teams. They will understand the different stages of team development and how to manage each stage. Through a short questionnaire they will learn their current team functioning.
Trust and integrity is the basis of leadership. Research shows that these are the most important factors for people to follow leaders. Students will learn practical examples of behaviours that inspires trust as well as behaviuors that undermines trust
Students will learn the advantages and requirements of empowering employees. Empowerement must be in line with ability and willingness. They will learn to assess these two critical elements and a process to follow to ensure empowered employees.
Students will know and appreciate the communication process and its importance. They will be able to apply successful and productive communication techniques. Be competent in using the communication triangle of Listening, Asking and Telling, with the emphasis on listening skills. Understand the importance of interpersonal skills
The will know what an Employee Value Propositions (EVP) is and the critical elements to create an attractive EVP. Be able to identify top drivers of attraction and attrition and describe the benefits of engaged employees. Can apply a process of building and EVP over time.
Realize the importance of the job as a motivator. They will learn the characteristics of a well designed job and utilize the knowledge and skills to design challenging jobs. Apply tools and methods to stimulate job satisfaction
Implement a formal career management system, with clear career paths and progression criteria, linked to comepencies. Learn how to do career discussions and ensure Individual development plans
The orgganizational culture is critical in engaging and retaining employees. Students will understand what it is and its importance. Utilizing an integrated change and transition model will help them identifying the ideal culture and how to work towards achieving it. They will appreciate the importance of company values and the effective utilization of values to build the preferred organizational culture.
Students will realize the importance to pay for peformance and to develop creative incentive schemes. Formal reward and payment is often centralized but Middle Managers can develop recognition schemes . They will learn critical guidelines of how to give recognition.
Become knowledgeable in the indicators of leadership potential and measure themselves against these criteria.
Three very valid and contemporary leadership theories or styles will help improve students understanding of leadership and how to apply it correctly in the work situation. The three theories are Transformational leadership, Authentic leadership and Servant leadership
Students will become aware of their (5) leadership Power and how to effectively use it.
Students will realize the first requirement for effective management/leadership is self awarness and knowlrdge. They will understand that we are body mind and emotions. They will learn to manage this properly and in balance
Emotional intelligence is more important than functional competence for leaders. They will learn about their own actions including locus of control
After completion of the program students will have the knowledge and skills to: Understand the qick chaninging world of VUCA, the need to be agile and adaptable. Students will realize they have to be competent in Leading the organization, Laeading people and Leading self. There will also be two sections, one focusing on building an attractive Employee Value Propositions (EVP)and effective leadership competencies
In section two students will learn important technical competencies to lead the organization, including Effective Planning, Decison making, where they will become comfortable in using certain tools and techniques to help with decision making, including the process of prioritizing, Cause and Effect Diagram and Force fFeld analyzes. They will be competent in knowing the process for effective executing. managing productivity and performance. They will be able to set SMART objectives and measurement criteria. Giving constructive and regular feedback will be stressed.
In section three students will become competent in Leading people, the essence of Management and Leadership, to achieve results through people. Competencies learned will include, the process of building high performance teams, constructive manageing conflict, steps in how to empower employees, taking into account the requirements of capbility and willingness and steps to build trust relationships. They will also have the knowledge and skills to ensure proper communication and interpersonal skills.
In section 4, students will become competent in developing an effective Employee value Proposition to Motivate and make sure emplyees are engaged. Engaged employees are more productive and 87% less inclined to leave the organization. Certain critical dimensions will highlighted:

Section 5, Students will become competent in using different contempory leadership styles needed for success in the world of today, Transformational Leadership, Authentic Leadership and Servant Leadership. They will be able to effectively use their Leadership Power to improve effectiveness.
Section 6 will empower students to lead themselves. The saying goes that you cannot lead others effectively if you cannot lead yourself. Self awarnes and buidling a positive self esteem is critical. knowing that we are body, mind and emotions and that all needs to be manage appropriately. Emotional intelligence is often more inportant than functional cometence for achieving results
