The purpose of this course is teaching the basics of building a robust and customized project schedule in Microsoft project. By learning how to build a customized schedule, the student is better able to meet and adjust for client and team needs instead of using pre-made templates that become difficult to adjust and customize. This tutorial is practical and allows the students to follow along with the tutorial guide while gaining real world advice from a project management professional in how to make Microsoft Project into a functioning, useful tool. Some of the skills that the student will learn includes building customized tables, views, and filters. Additionally, Students will learn about how to build in resources and cost rates, build in tasks, and to customize the tools functions to make it more user friendly and make the ability to build out schedules easier. Students will be able to come away from this course more capable of creating customized projects that can be used on various projects and meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders. These obtains skills will assist the student in furthering their career as project managers/professionals but can also translate those skills to other scheduling software in the future.
