With this, came into effect the concept of BIG DATA: incredible amounts of information that were challenging to capture, store, understand, and analyze with traditional software. What use is data for both individuals and businesses when you can’t make anything out of it? Data when correctly processed becomes as valuable as Gold.
Big data is combined with machine learning to create predictive analytics that brings value to the information.
These raw details are obscure if you do not have the correct degree of qualifications required to use them. That’s when Data Visualisation comes into the picture. The graphical display of information and data is known as data visualization. Data visualization tools make it easy to observe and comprehend trends, outliers, and patterns in data by employing visual elements like charts, graphs, and maps.
Data visualization tools and technologies are critical in the Big Data age for analyzing huge volumes of data and making data-driven decisions.
In simpler words, suppose, you want to say a story to your boss about the current business scenarios, how would you read out an immensely informed Excel Sheet to him? Here comes the Visualisation part- using charts, bars, diagrams to represent and analyze in simpler and easier terms. Now that you understand a bit about visualization and its importance, let's now get to know how Power BI plays a role in this. Power BI is a set of software services, apps, and connectors that work together to transform disparate data sources into logical, visually immersive, and interactive insights. Power BI makes it simple to connect to your data sources, visualize and uncover what matters, and share your findings with whomever you choose.

Let's get started with some of the basics and foundations of Power BI, and how you can use Power BI to your advantage:
With Power BI, you can:
- Connect (it is compatible with multiple data sources, be it cloud or anything else)
- Transform (ETL - Extract Transform and Load data to basically clean data, remove errors and visualize it to create a bar graph or chart or any representation out of it to make it look clearer than it was when extracted.
- Model (Define relationships using common elements as in SQL’s Primary Key; here you define relationships and calculations)
- Visualise (Compelling charts and tables, mobile-friendly views, filters and so on)
- Dashboard (Pin visuals and reports and tiles for all the stakeholders to use)
- Data Analytics(once data is in dashboard, it is not enough, you have to think about it, you have to derive insights in order to accomplish decision-making)
- Insights (suggesting actionable recommendations derived from Analysis of data).
In this lecture on our Power BI module, we will learn how to connect data to Power BI.
With Power BI, you can easily connect with the ever-expanding world of data. There are many sources of data available in the ever-expanding world of data. These sources include basic data sources, such as a Microsoft Excel file. You can connect to online services that contain all sorts of data, such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, Azure Blob Storage, and many more.

When you transform your data, everything you visualize is transformed. We're going to talk about three different modes of view in Power BI
1) Report View.
Selecting fields, Creating dynamic visualizations and reports. Smooth design experience for visuals, applying filters, and managing multiple pages.
2) Data View.
Helps to inspect, explore and understand the data. Shows row-level data post-loading. Filters can be applied similarly to that of Excel.
3)Model View.
Can be used to simplify complex models, multi-select objects and set common properties, and set up folders.
Any connection that you make with your data source and Power BI is a Query.
