    HOW TO FOLLOW THE COURSE...

Whatch the videos one by one.

    1. Pause the video by each step and re-create the drawings yourself step-by step.

    2. If you think that you have made mistakes, do not try to correct. Just ignore them and always finish the full exercise first. When you are ready, you can always make the sketch once more. You will see that you develop much faster this way than if you try to get everything perfect in one go.

    3. Download the Sketching Exercises PDF document for practicing under the resources tab on the right.

You can make light prints of line sketches to practice tracing the drawings with dynamic, smooth lines. You can also print the line drawings on marker paper and practice only the shading.

    REQUIRED SKETCHING TOOLS...

Use any black colored fineliner with 0,5mm thickness.

Purchase a set of cold grey markers (not warm or neutral grey). The set should contain at least C1,C2,C3,C4,C5 tones. A C8 and a Black tone is also recommended for tracing dark contour lines and to create shadows, but these can be replaced by any other color felt tip pen with hard point and flat tips as an alternative.
The best renowned brand is COPIC , but much cheaper alternatives are also excellent like: TOUCHNEW, PRISMACOLOR...

The markers must have double end. One side hard point and one side flat ends as you see in the second picture (no brush like end!)

It is recommended to use marker paper in de form of a marker pad... as you see it in the third picture. Marker paper has a special sealed coating on the back side which prevents that to much ink would be sucked out of your markers, so you can use them much longer.

To purchase for the best prices and shortest delivery you can search on the Internet from your location or look for an artist's supply shop in you area.

Description

"This is the course I've been looking for a very long time. I am glad I found it. It makes me less intimidated by sketching and more excited to start. I always gave up on sketching in the past because my lines didn't seem confident and I felt frustrated. Now I understand why."

(Alkyoni V.)

Some people make fast, nonchalant sketches which look brilliant. Others sweat for hours to make accurate drawings, yet those still look unprofessional. Why is that?

This course is based on my book The Exceptionally Simple Theory Of Sketching that I have written to introduce a new method of learning sketching which brings fast results with much less struggling.

What do you learn differently and why?

On most sketching courses, you focus first on drawing accurately, and then after months of intensive practice, your lines and shadings will slowly improve as you get more and more confident.

My method, however, teaches you the opposite way. You learn at first the secrets that will make your lines and shadings look clear, confident and professional even if you are not yet confident in your drawing skills. Later, you learn how you can keep that fresh, dynamic, confident look when you sketch more and more complex objects with higher and higher accuracy.

This spares you from the months-long learning period, where most people create more and more accurate drawings, but their drawings still look uncertain and unappeaing.

The course guides you through a series of short and easy exercises that everyone can successfully accomplish within 10 to 20 minutes. It consists of 10 video tutorials with lengths ranging from 15-30 minutes and two bonus exercises.

The course also inculdes a downloadable excercise book to help you practice much easier.

Who this course is for:

  • Beginners who want to find the quickest and easiest way to acquire professional sketching skills
  • People who already have some sketching skills, but want to fully understand the principles that make drawings look more beautiful.
