Study Tips
It is essential that you:
Study this course with a purpose.
Continually search the course for ways to achieve your goals as well as resolve your clients’ challenges .
Stay focused on your purpose as you study.
Determine what you want to learn before you begin.
Commit yourself to Recognizing, Relating, Assimilating and Applying the principles, techniques, and ideas this course provides.
Study with a pen in your hand or an open document, ready to record any flash of inspiration or answers to problems.
Ask yourself as you study this material, “What does this mean to me and how can I use it?” By doing so, you will stimulate your brain and nervous system to create new and usable ideas.
Strive to understand each “How to” component in terms of “What to do.” There is a direct relationship between the two.
Develop good study habits. Set aside a specific time each day to study when your mind is alert and receptive to new ideas. Discipline yourself to study every day, never allowing yourself to skip days.
Choose a place where you will be comfortable and unlikely to be disturbed as you study. Try to use the same place every day.
When starting each new lesson, I recommend that you read it through from start to finish, stopping only to mark what you feel is important-what you would like to memorize-or to put a question mark next to statements you don’t quite understand. This is also an excellent time to jot down any inspiring ideas or potential solutions to problems that you might have. Try to complete the lesson before you stop reading.
Always keep in mind your definite action plan. Read and study your lesson once again, making certain that you comprehend the information in each paragraph.
If you do not understand some of the words, look them up in your dictionary and note their synonyms.
You will find it helpful to reread each lesson a third time. This will reinforce what you have already learned and help you to memorize self-motivators that appeal to you.
To fully achieve the goals of your life, study…think…plan…and apply the information in this course.
The R2A2 Formula
How to Recognize, Relate, Assimilate and Apply the Mental Strength Principles
Your ability to recognize, relate, assimilate and apply the information in this course will give you the power to meet any challenge, overcome any obstacle and achieve wealth, health, happiness and the true riches of life.
This course is composed of several principles that have been scientifically proven. They can be compared to an orchestra that is composed of different sections-strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion-which complement each other and produce a melodious, full and pleasant sound
Think of yourself as the maestro of your own orchestra of mental strength principles. The ability to recognize, relate, assimilate and apply the principles is your baton. Use it to blend all the principles into a symphony of success-a meaningful and productive life.
Like any formula, the R2A2 formula is made up of individual parts. Let’s analyze each ingredient:
RECOGNIZE: to identify the principle, idea, or technique
RELATE: to connect or join together; to establish a relationship to your own life
ASSIMILATE: to make similar or alike; to incorporate; to absorb; to become a part of your thinking and action
APPLY: follow through and act upon
How to Develop the Habit of Using the R2A2 Formula
First of all, you need a mental success reflex, a trigger phrase that will immediately direct your mind when you recognize a success principle, idea, or technique.
For Example:
RECOGNIZE:
I recognize the principle, idea or technique that is being used. Say to yourself. “It helped someone else. I can see the results, and it will work for me if I use it. THAT’S FOR ME!”
RELATE:
Ask yourself. “What will the principle, idea or technique do for me?” IMPORTANT: You must relate it to yourself. Start with the most important living person as far as you are concerned: YOU.
ASSIMILATE:
Ask yourself. “How can I use the principles, ideas or techniques to achieve my goals or solve my problems? How can I absorb them into my behavior so that they become a part of me? How can I develop a success habit-a success reflex so that the right thing will be done?”
APPLY:
Ask yourself. “What action will I take? When am I going to start?” Ask the important questions and then follow through with the self-starter. “DO IT NOW! Yes. DO IT NOW!”
The R2A2 formula should become so ingrained in your mind that you can recognize success principles, ideas, or techniques by listening to an audio, reading a book or watching a program.
Remember: develop and use your own success reflex by seeking ways to say; “THAT’S FOR ME!”
Private Coaching

This video will discuss what coaching is as compared to instructing. This information will assist you when you get into the other coaching courses.
This video will cover:
What is Coaching?
Coaching focuses on future possibilities, not past mistakes.
Coaching is unlocking people’s potential to maximize their own performance.
A coach must think of their athletes in terms of potential, not their performance.
The underlying intent of every coach is to build the athletes self-belief.
The below video gives a brief overview of Module Coaching 101.
This module covers what coaching is and what coaching is not.
Being aware is like breathing, it is fundamental to our every day existence. Without awareness we are moving throughout life without breathing, without direction, without connecting with others or ourselves.
One of the reasons that coaching is such an interesting field is that it draws from a wide range of theories, philosophies and disciplines to create a unique professional practice. Below are a few of the theories that coaching draws from, in particular Adult Learning Theory, Philosophy, Psychology, Consulting, Spirituality and Management Theory.
Have you ever wondered why everybody says they are a good listener? Is it because we place little value on this skill or is it because people see it as such a natural part of being human? Yet how many people could you say are really good listeners? You may know one or two people but that is about all. However we all see this as a skill we need to have but how much time do we spend thinking about the depth of this skill?
Aristotle believed there was a set of core values that should manifest themselves in the behavior of all human beings. These were courage, honesty, friendliness, wittiness, rationality in judgment, mutually beneficial friendships and the pursuit of knowledge and truth.
Coaching is a relatively new field with roots in a range of different traditions. These include psychology, management theory, adult learning theory, philosophy, spirituality and social theory. Because it is such a new and hybrid field, it has, up until recently, been largely unregulated.
Confidence does not mean having a big fat ego. Confidence doesn’t mean you think more of yourself thank others. Confidence doesn’t mean you are better than the next person. All of these feelings and thoughts are the result of low self-esteem.
Coaching is delivered in a variety of settings. There are internal coaches in corporations, coaching being added to other services being provided, coaching in hospitals, government departments and many other areas. As you will come to know, coaching has applications in every possible area including family and relationships. It is also being used in religious organizations as well. Coaching is everywhere.
We are all seeking an experience! We have access to endless amounts of information, thanks to the internet, and so we are now in search of an experience. We thought knowledge and having it would be enough but we now want an experience.
We have all had experiences of undertaking a detailed course of study or attending a dynamic seminar, yet a year later, we would find it difficult to identify how this “learning” has impacted on our lives at all.
The 21st century is often referred to as “the information age”, an era where technology and globalization have led to people having access to huge amounts of information at precisely the time that they need it. Whole countries are shifting from growing and producing “things” to providing knowledge and services and becoming so-called “knowledge economies”.
In this portion of your MSPCC we’ll be going over communications, both external and internal (beliefs). The section will help you consider the different ways and forms of communication so that you can assist your clients with breakthroughs and taking action.
Acknowledgment as stated by Wiktionary is “The act of owning or recognizing a particular character or relationship; recognition as regards the existence, authority, truth, or genuineness.” Acknowledgement is a ground breaking concept – it will change your life.
What does it mean to be a good communicator? Does it mean that the message you transmit reaches its mark or intended recipient? Does it mean that the recipient understands the message when they receive it? Communicating is often thought about in terms of the clarity in which a message is transmitted. Yet we are so often part of moments in our day where the message that is transmitted leaves us with uncertainty about its meaning.
Creating action is not always easy. However it is critical to our feeling of success and achievement. Action is doing. It is experiencing something. Action is an opportunity for you to experience something new, to learn. Action is about your development, the growth of you as a person.
To understand a model lets look at the car industry. There are many models of cars. You may like the models of the past or the ones of the future. Your decision will be based on your particular likes and dislikes. You will also choose the color and all the extras that you desire in a car
We are complex creatures. From the time that you were conceived to this moment when you are reading this document you have developed thousands of beliefs. Think of these beliefs as you would an iceberg. Some of the beliefs you can see, floating on the surface, like the part of the iceberg that can be seen above water.
The ability to discern right from wrong is the practice of ethics. Every individual has moral duties and obligations, which allow them to live in a constructive way with others. Every business has professional standards of conduct, which allow them to operate effectively and to relate in an ethical way with their clients and other organizations. Ethics is more than doing the right thing. It is about determining what the right thing is, in a range of situations, and then doing it.
Have you ever been in a meeting and known that you need to come up with something great to contribute towards the outcome? This kind of pressure can work for some people but for most it can make a person freeze on the spot and start to focus intensely on a great question to ask to move the conversation in the direction towards that magical moment that is needed.
At Warrior Mind Coach we work on the principle of “no single model”. We believe that all coaching models have value but that no one model has all of the answers to all of the challenges presented to all coaches by all clients. Just as we encourage you to develop your own unique coaching model, we believe that developing your own unique coaching tools can support you to refine and focus your business.
There are many different ways that coaching can be structured. This reading is designed to explore the various coaching delivery structures that are available and the particular benefits and requirements of each one. Just as you create structures in your life, so it is important to create structures in your business.
In this section will go over “comparisons” and how to use them in a coaching environment. These comparisons are fantastic for creating a shift in perspective in clients, and ourselves. As you read through these take notice as to how they show up in your life.
Amy and George were working on a project to create a new business. They were designing a name for their business, determining their market, and designing stationery and many other aspects of their business. The website was one of the biggest projects.
As humans we are at times a little robotic. For example we sometimes do something so often that we no longer have to think about how we do it, we just move into doing it. Take driving a car or riding a bike for example. Once we learn how to do it, we just do it every day without even thinking. We might even notice at times that we were not consciously aware of driving the car or riding the bike. We are so automated that it is just happening without conscious thought.
Many people, when they hear the word Responsibility, immediately associate it with burden or having to carry a load. Ironically, it is exactly the opposite. Responsibility leads to Freedom. When you take on the perspective that you created a situation, you can change or modify it.
The response to the question – Do you really love who you are? – will depend on whether you have respect. Respect is one of those interesting words that has been used in a range of ways. We begin to understand it when we are children and our parents refer to actions that we have carried out that demonstrate we don’t or do respect them.
Have you ever heard of the saying - carrying the weight of the world around on your shoulders? Imagine this image for a moment, a person with this huge weight on their back, leaning forward as they are weighed down.
Action is extremely powerful and is the catalyst used in coaching to create change. It is important for us to recognize that nothing happens without action. In order for us to achieve different results in our lives, we must DO different.
Living in trust gives us a sense of confidence and security that brings freedom to our lives. It’s that anchor that holds us fast amidst the many challenges that can pull us off our course.
The question of what is true and what is not has been the subject of philosophical debate throughout human history. But on a practical level, we are confronted with this question every day. Truth is more than an abstract notion. Think for a minute about the various levels of Truth.
In this section will wrap-up information about coaching in general. We'll also examine some final thoughts about working with your clients.
Perspective is a point of view; a way of looking at or interpreting a particular set of events. We all have perspectives about our world and the circumstances we find ourselves in. Are you ready for one of the most important secrets of life? Your perspective determines your experience in life, not your circumstances. The beautiful thing about this secret is that you can choose to change your perspective at any time.
Like many words in English, the Oxford English Dictionary lists a number of definitions for the word “judgment”. One of the definitions is “discernment, good sense”. Further down, however, another definition is “criticism, against what one really feels to be advisable.” The first definition of judgment is more about using your intuition to make a decision.
Coaching is an exciting and challenging profession. It is a great honor and privilege to be invited into the life of a client to be a party to their success. To be successful as a coach requires a set of complex cognitive, interpersonal and self-awareness skills.
Developing creativity, as a skill is something that Edward de Bono has specialized in for many years. He teaches skills around developing ‘idea creativity’ as opposed to artistic creativity, which is not the same concept. de Bono talks about idea creativity as part of lateral thinking. He believes idea creativity can be taught as a skill.
Every person is unique. We think differently, we act differently, we have different perspectives, we have different beliefs, we have different values. We are all different. If you think about the number of people on the planet, over six billion, then that is a whole lot of difference and variety.
Developing your coaching model is a critical first step to understand and articulate your coaching process. For many coaches, drafting a coaching model helps them acquire an understanding of how their process works more clearly.
When we are accountable to something or someone outside of ourselves, our actions have a greater chance of taking place than when we are not accountable. Webster’s Dictionary defines the word “accountable” as being “subject to giving an account: answerable; capable of being accounted for: explainable; held responsible.”
A structure is anything that keeps ideas and elements together and in place over time. There are visible and invisible structures in life that support our beliefs, the way we run our business, how we maintain friendships and so forth. Essentially, structures are what support us to manage our commitments, values and responsibilities.
In this video we discuss the different aspects of the mind. This is important so that we have a sense of how our athletes think as well as how we think.
The video will cover:

Have you ever had "one of those days" when absolutely everything goes wrong? Have you ever wondered why some people are successful, while others spend their entire lives struggling? Do you ever get the feeling that someone is out to get you because everything you touch goes wrong?
So you want to run your own mind? Good for you. What a wonderful objective! And so rare. Many people talk about running their own mind and taking charge of their own mind, but just watch them when criticized or insulted. They go to pieces. Let one of their closely held beliefs be questioned, and watch out. Sudden it becomes semantic reaction time.
The beginning of all wisdom and creating a warrior mindset is when you realize how much you don't know. One of Bruce Lee’s teachers said it a different way…empty your cup. If your cup is full, there isn’t room for any more. If you think you “know it”, or have heard it before, your cup is full. What I’m going to request of you is to empty your cup.
Now that you know about minds (minds), what they do and how they work, you're ready to play the Warrior Mindset Game. This is the Running Your Own Mind Game, one of the original visions of NLP. With mental strength we take this even further to run our own mind at the highest levels of the mind.
Create a mindset for success is based on a number of different factors. Many things come into play, such as beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, language, values and intent. In this lesson you will learn many different things, specifically around thoughts and language which contribute heavily to creating a mindset for success.
So it follows that if one is able to control more of the unconscious mind, then a person can effectively maintain more control over the things that occur in life. This then, implies a link between what happens in the conscious mind and what happens in the unconscious mind.
Each neuron in the cerebellum has a thousand times more connections than the neurons in the rest of the brain. That means a scraping of cerebellum the size of your little fingernail has more neuron connections than the whole neocortex. What’s going on down there? And can we make better use of it?
Typically, what happens is that there is an external event and we run that event through our internal processing. We make an Internal Representation (I/R) of that event. That I/R of the event combines with a physiology and creates a state.
Each of us has a preferred representational system (visual, auditory, kinesthetic or digital (auditory digital)) - for more information on the NLP visual, auditory, kinesthetic and digital representational systems, please see the article Modalities and Representational Systems.
You will need a journal or a pad of paper. Contemplate each question below, and write down every belief you can think of in that category. Begin by saying to yourself, “Something I believe about myself is…” Let your thoughts flow and keep your pen moving. Don’t judge your beliefs, argue with them, or censor them. Just allow whatever comes up to be written down
When playing a game of pool or snooker it is easy to see how the movement of one ball 'causes' the ball that it hits to move into the table pocket. The field of physics attempts to understand the universe in terms of cause and effect — a task that can be very difficult at times. Sometimes the assumed cause isn't correct, other times the assumed cause is just one of many factors.
How they work together to drive us
Normally when we think about motivation we think about being excited about doing something or not. Well, if you want to reach your personal goals and achieve personal success on a regular basis, you’re going to have to comprehend and use all aspects of motivation.
Some people pursue love, others money; some people want a new television, others want to finish the novel they are reading; some people want to take up jogging, others want to quit smoking; some people pursue success, others try to avoid failure.
This “goal systems” approach is in mechanistic in nature. It sees humans similar to robots that need to be correctly programmed in order to achieve their personal goals and objective.
We’re going to look at goals and motivation in a somewhat different way this week, by checking out two additional goal/motivation philosophies; ‘attribution’ and ‘achievement’. These theories supply yet a third way of considering the “why” question of motivation that is “why am I pursuing this particular target?”
How to Motivate Others To Help Them Achieve Their Personal Goals
Motivating others is vital for all of us!
As we age, we assume more and more roles that require being in charge of or mentoring others, including perhaps the roles of parent, manager, personal trainer, coach, and teacher.
What Do People Really Need?
In this final post we’ll ask “What are the ultimate motivators?” That is, what do people really need and depend on in their lives?
In this section, we’ll extend “meaning questions” to help you make the changes you want to, turbocharge your motivation & achieve your goals, dreams & desires.
The main premise of the mental strength coaching is that a person’s beliefs create their reality. These beliefs create thoughts, which in turn, evoke emotions. It is the emotions that create the need for action or the opposite….the fear in not taking action.
Create a mindset for success is based on a number of different factors. Many things come into play, such as beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, language, values and intent. In this program you will learn many different things, specifically around thoughts and language which contribute heavily to creating a mindset for success.
What ever we experience we have created. Either we create consciously and purposely or else whatever we believe in and react to will follow.
Values are essentially an evaluation filter. They are how we decide whether our actions are good or bad, or right or wrong. And they are how we decide about how we feel about our actions. Values are arranged in a hierarchy with the most important o ne typically being at the top and lesser ones below that.
The main key about structure is that in order to change or affect a particular area, you need to be at the level above it, i.e. in order to change your environment you have to work from the behavior level. To change your capabilities, you need to look at them and work with them from the values/belief level.
Since the beginning of time man has been intrigued by his ability to see, with his eyes closed, the same detailed images that reflect the reality he sees with his eyes open. Man has been mystified by the power the mental image possesses to affect the body, mind and matter in the outside world.
Most of us accept the fact that change is hard. It’s tough to lose weight, or to be more productive at work, or to quit smoking. Our past efforts at change may be riddled with failure. But not all change is hard, and in fact, some big changes we look forward to—getting married or having a baby.
Webster's Dictionary defines imagination as the "act or process of forming a conscious idea or mental image of something never before wholly perceived in reality by the imaginer (as through a synthesis of remembered elements of previous sensory experiences or ideas as modified by unconscious mechanisms)."
The 5 steps for success consolidate what has been covered in creating a well formed outcome. This formula is not just for sales and can be applied to all areas of your life. Remember: it’s much easier to hit a target that is clearly defined and visible.
Virginia Satir, when asked to name the most powerful force in human beings, reportedly replied "Familiarity." The desire for the familiar, for things to be the same as they were yesterday, has a long pedigree. Humans have a natural resistance to radical change.
These 17 principles have been responsible for the success of the world’s outstanding leaders. Success is a science and you can learn its’ secretes regardless of your present occupation, environment and residence. You may be a highly regarded successful businessperson now, or you may be a poorly paid factory worker.
They are essentially an evaluation filter. They are how we decide whether our actions are good or bad, or right or wrong. And they are how we decide about how we feel about our actions. Values are arranged in a hierarchy with the most important one typically being at the top and lesser ones below that.
Beliefs are fascinating creatures, some are right out there for all to see. While others aren’t so obvious, that is, until you start to look at your results, reality and what you are creating.
What would happen if you lost your job, your spouse, your house, your investments, your friends, or the ability to maintain your life and/or community activities? What happens when you think about these types of losses in your life? Some people refuse to even think about what they would do. Others quickly become overwhelmed by fear or anxiety.

Our U.S. Navy SEALs have the reputation of being the best commandos ever created. A Navy SEAL is someone who has survived the most challenging military training in the world.
Any image placed into the subconscious mind develops into reality with absolute accuracy. Life is not determined by only outward acts or circumstances it is formed from the inside out. Each of us creates are own life with our thoughts. A single thought will neither make nor break your athletic career; a habit of thoughts will. You cannot think defeat and be victorious.
Just as a map takes you where you're traveling on a highway, so your goals are a map for the road you're traveling in life! We all have goals in the back of our mind, but we don't always bring them into focus to achieve them.
Have you ever heard of visualization? Of course you have. Everybody’s heard of visualization and everybody partakes in it whether they realize it or not. How it works though is an altogether different matter. I want to take an overview look at the mechanics of why visualizing works without necessarily delving into concepts and theories that cannot be proven.
I think it’s safe to say that many of us have no problem with energizing ourselves. With coffee, Red Bull, 5 Hour Energy, etc there is an abundance of ways to become energized….but I’m talking about is self or internally induced energizing.
Self-talk refers to the thoughts and words individuals say to themselves and usually in their minds, but sometimes out loud as well. Self-talk phrases (or cues) are used to direct attention towards a particular thing in order to improve focus or are used alongside other techniques to facilitate their effectiveness.

In the video below I go over the 10 basic Mental Strength Principles for Success. These apply to both YOU and YOUR athletes/clients. This will come into play when communicating with a client.
Confidence is a mindset, but it is based on tangible things such as your past success in sports. You probably derive your confidence from one or more of the following three sources:
From practice
From what other people say or do
From immediate past performance
Stress is experienced when an individual feels that they cannot cope with a situation with which they are presented. If an athlete is in a stressful situation then their athletic performance, whether this be in competition or in training, will be effected. The coach can limit the effect on performance of competitive anxiety by assisting the athlete to identify an appropriate coping strategy.
Whether during practice or competition you’re going to be faced with distractions. These distractions will be different and have a different effect on your performance. The important thing to remember is that during your physical practice is the time to for your mental practices as well.
Energy management has to do with helping you control your arousal- the physical and mental energy that fuels your athletic performance. This energy is on a continuum from deep sleep to intense excitement.
Motivation is the stimuli, which arouse and direct behavior and/or Internal and External factors that make us want to perform
Many people believe they could improve their lives if only they had more of that mysterious thing called willpower. With more self-control we would all eat right, exercise regularly, avoid drugs and alcohol, save for retirement, stop procrastinating, and achieve all sorts of noble goals.
In my coaching I have become extremely interested in why people develop certain habits, and how those habits can be changed. In my research to find why people do what they do I focused on a certain aspect of habits, I investigated the lives of individuals and businesses demonstrating how habits arise, why they appear to be so difficult to change, and, most importantly, how it is in fact possible to change them.
