This is an introduction to the course and brief overview of my background as well as what you will see during the remainder of the lectures. Be sure to looked at the attached PDF document on downloading and installing the free version of DraftSight.
This is an introduction to the DraftSight interface and layer drawing concept. You will be assigned a homework task to make an orthographic drawing based on a dimensioned pdf document.
Introduction into orthographic projection.
Going over section and auxiliary views and how to draw onto inclined planes.
This will teach you what to pay attention to in dimensional schemes as well as some of the best practices for dimensioning technical drawings.
You will learn to setup templates, viewports, and print configurations for your drawings.
Brief introduction of geometric tolerances as it relates to design intent.
Isometric sketching in 2D environment
This course is meant to give a brief introduction to mechanical drawings that an engineer would typically give to a machine or fab shop or create for the mass production environment.
We go over orthographic projection, section views, auxiliary views, dimensioning styles, and geometric tolerances. In order to learn all of these things, we utilize DraftSight, a free 2D sketch environment created by Dassault Systems.
