
First year Engineering syllabus for Mechanical Systems of Engineering / Basics of Mechanical Engineering /Elements of Mechanical Engineering
Will be able to know the types of energy sources and how they are converted from one form to other and also will be able to describe and compare the conversion of energy from renewable and non-renewable energy sources
Working principle of Thermal Power plant , components, advantages and disadvantages of thermal power plant.
To get acquainted with basic thermodynamics and its application. Will be able to know the working of Nuclear Power Plant.
Working o Hydro Power plant and performance . Advantages and disadvantages of Hydro Power Plant.
Solar Energy is a primary, renewable, non exhaustible, non commercial, pollutant free energy source and available in ample in the nature. Conversion of solar energy into useful energy is the need of future and widely used nowadays with minimizing the constraints. Applications of solar energy are solar heater, solar cooker, solar power etc. Every Engineer should have some basic knowledge of Solar energy hence incorporated in the syllabus.
Mechanical System Engineering / Basics of Mechanical Engineering / Elements of Mechanical Engineering: This course is designed for first year Engineering Students of all branches. The said course is designed in view of understanding basic mechanical concepts to all Engineers because Mechanical Engineering is a vast branch and its basics are needed for each branch such as Electrical .Electronics, Civil, IT, Computer etc. That is why this subject is included in first year syllabus. The contents of the course are:
1. Introduction to energy sources and its conversions
2. Introduction to Thermal Engineering.
3. Basic concepts of vehicle /Automobile and specifications
4, Various systems of a vehicle / Automobile
5. Manufacturing Processes.
6. Various mechanisms and their applications in Domestic appliances.
Course Objectives:
1. To get the knowledge of Energy and their types and how they are converted from one form to the other,
2. To have the basic ideas of Thermal . Nuclear, Hydro power plant and their principle of working, components, merits and demerits etc.
3. To learn about the basic concepts of a two / four wheelers and their specifications
4. To Study the various systems in a vehicle.
5. To have the idea of various manufacturing processes and machines required for the same.
6. Study of domestic appliances with mechanical concepts.
Course outcome;
