Description

This course is carefully designed for students pursuing Discrete Mathematics in their graduation or post-graduation, especially those enrolled in IGNOU or BCA programs. With my BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from Dyal Singh College, DU, and a Master’s in Computer Applications (MCA), I bring years of academic and teaching experience to ensure the concepts are explained from the ground up. I understand that students sometimes find it challenging to grasp concepts from textbooks, which is why my teaching approach focuses on making complex topics easy through clear, step-by-step explanations.

In this course, I cover all essential topics, from propositional calculus to counting principles, using practical examples and detailed question-solving techniques. I have also included a variety of practice exercises and topic-wise explanations of previous exam questions, ensuring that you can apply the concepts effectively. As the years go by, I’ll continue to update the course with more previous year’s questions to keep it relevant and aligned with exam patterns.

The syllabus is structured into manageable blocks:

Block 1: Elementary Logic

  • Unit 1: Propositional Calculus

  • Unit 2: Methods of Proof

  • Unit 3: Boolean Algebra and Circuits

Block 2: Advanced Topics

  • Unit 1: Set, Relation, and Functions

  • Unit 2: Permutation and Combination

  • Unit 3: Some More Counting Principles

  • Unit 4: Partition and Distributions

What you’ll learn:

  • Master the concepts of Propositional Logic and its applications in Discrete Mathematics

  • Understand different methods of proof, including induction and contra statements

  • Gain a strong foundation in Boolean Algebra and its uses in circuits

  • Grasp the concepts of Sets, Relations, Functions, and their properties

  • Learn and apply various Counting Principles and techniques for Partition and Distribution

Course Requirements:

  • A basic knowledge of Mathematics
