A 10 minute yapping session before you check out my riff tutorials haha
My two main guitar tone presets (clean and overdrive) for Neural dsp Archetype Plini.
This is theme A from my new song and I wrote it originally on the acoustic guitar. I thought the theme had a super groovy fell to it!
This is theme C from my new song 'Midnight Shiloh' I actually wrote these riffs a while ago on my acoustic fingerstyle project and feature it in my Advanced fingerstyle course.
This song is my pride and joy along with being my most technically demanding. Don't ask me how I came up with the melodic choices, I just did lol. The first theme is a cool thumping/fingerpicking/tapping challenge that explores the odd note groupings and note choices. Wanted to really break out of typical triads and arpeggios by selecting different color tones :) The 2nd theme focuses more on tapping and the idea of outlining interesting chords with a two part harmony!
I wrote the main idea for 'Longest day of my life' on the acoustic guitar originally in my fingerstyle album 'Sonder' (Some of these riffs are taught in my advanced fingerstyle course). While the framework was a little more simple I felt that it was perfect for a mathrock song so I added a little more spice to it!
'Ancestors' is the first song I released under my new mathrock project "Pineapple Guitarist" These are all of my favorite themes that I wrote in DADGAD for my acoustic fiingerstyle album in 2013 also entitled "Ancestors". These riffs are on my Advanced level Fingerstyle Course and It only felt write to name the song after the album I created back then as to bridge the gap between an old and new chapter.
"Hereafter" features some riffs that I'm very proud of. Theme B was the final addition that made the song feel complete for me. I wrote Theme A about a year ago. Theme C and D were written on the acoustic many years ago and were featured in my Fingerstyle Guitar courses! This song is an example of catharsis where sometimes a piece of art shouldn't be rushed :)
I love this Song so much because It felt like a huge accomplishment for me with improving my tapping. I worked hard at evolving an Alt-rock song I wrote with two guitar parts into 1 mathy part featuring two handed tapping involving the right hand 3rd finger and pinky.
'Familiar framework' has a very similar feel to 'Unknown epiphany' and as a result I'm mostly likely going to merge these into one song that I'm writing more riffs around. Thankfully mathrock allows tempo changes :D This was also the first theme I ever wrote in this tuning after discovering it last year!
The tab "Sonic Heroes" includes all of the lessons in this Section. My most recent song I've released sounded like the game soundtrack or something similar so it felt right to name it after one of my favorite gamecube games of all time. This is the Intro, Shinesprite is Theme B and C, Watch you go is The last theme :)
This Is Theme B and C in my song "Sonic Heroes" Shinesprite was the working title and the shorter demo version that I originally felt sounded like something out of Super Mario sunshine (My other favorite gamecube game)
Watch you go is a riff inspire by the story so far song progression that didn't quite make the cut for "sonic Heroes" (also featured at the bottom of the song tab) Definitely going to work this riff into a full tune down the road
From the single-coil supremacy of the Telecaster comes the 2nd installment in the Midwest emo/Mathrock Guitar series! The Lessons in this chapter revolve around the unique music composed by Pineapple Guitarist that portrays aggressive mathy riffs with extended fingerstyle techniques. Perfect for the upper Intermediate guitarist looking to learn a similar approach to that of bands like CHON, Dance Gavin Dance and Covet
In the 1st chapter we studied 6 simple riffs that introduced us to the basics of mathrock and midwest emo ideas. This course has been in the works for over a year and expounds upon the song writing and application of what we learned in the last course with a heavier rock influence.
Characteristics included are 5 different tuning examples: DAEGAE, FACGCE, DADGAD, DAEABE and even Standard.
Traditional Mathrock is the embodiment of unusual time signatures. In this series we'll take a large inspiration from the contemporary scene. Bands like Covet and DGD which feature characteristics of abstract chord structures with lead licks. Combining this subgenre with midwest emo opens the possibility for greater creative expressions that typically resembles a more clean twinkly aesthetic!
In these progressions I've taken the liberty of teaching the simple concepts through an advanced approach. We're going to learn how to critically think through the chords and melodies by stretching our technical abilities. Full song tutorials included: Sonic Heroes, Ancestors, Hereafter, Pumpkin Spice
