Master How to Install a Windows Server for a Small Business

In this lecture I will walk you through the setup that I am using in my lab to produce this course. We'll look at the server I am using and how it is connected to this network. Students will learn how they can configure their own lab.

When installing a server for a small business, it's really important to make sure you choose the right server. In this lecture you will learn what type of server you need to provide to your customers. 

In this lecture we will walk through configuring an ideal server on the Dell website. Students will learn what hardware and software they need to choose. 

In this lecture we will look at the other items that are needed when installing servers for small businesses. None of these items are critical to completing this course but they would be needed if you were to supply a server to a real life customer.

Students will learn what a UPS device is, the device we need for backup and where to buy a SSL certificate. 

In this lecture students will learn how to build their host server. They will learn the three different ways we can install Server 2012 R2 Essentials on the server. 

In this lecture students will learn how to make a USB storage device bootable and how to copy the ISO image of Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials on to the USB drive. 

In this lecture we will go through the process of installing Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials on your host server. We'll look at the basic setup screens and what information needs to be entered. 

In this lecture students will learn how to enable RDP on the host server so they can access the server from any PC on the local network.

Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials integrates with Microsoft Cloud services such as Office 365 and Microsoft Azure. In this lecture students will learn how to integrate the virtual server with Office 365. 

In this lecture students will learn how to create new user accounts and link them to the Office 365 email addresses. 

It's crucial for IT security that we set password policy settings. In this lecture students will learn how to set password policy on Server 2012 R2 Essentials. 

All the computers on the network need to be added to the new domain. In this lecture students will learn how to add computers to the network using the Essentials web link. 

In this lecture we will look at Shared Folders. Students will learn how to create a manage shared folders on the Server Essentials virtual server.

Server 2012 R2 Essentials has the ability to take backups of the computers on the network. In this lecture students will learn how to enable and configure computer backups. 

In addition to the client computer backups, Server 2012 R2 Essentials can also take backups of the users profile (documents, music, pictures and desktop files). Students will learn how to enable this feature and configure it based on their customers needs. 

Enabling group policy for computer security and folder redirection is a neat little feature of Server Essentials 2012 R2.

In this lecture students will learn how to turn group policy on so that each PC has it's security settings configured and each user profile is redirected to the server for tighter security. 

We will use two backups; one local and one cloud based. In this lecture we will prepare for the virtual server backup by adding a USB hard drive to the virtual server. 

In this lecture students will learn how to back up the virtual server to the USB hard drive and how to configure backup schedules. 

In this video, we will take a look at Microsoft Azure, Microsoft's cloud infrastructure. Students will learn how to back up their virtual server to the cloud using Microsoft Azure. 

Remote access is an important aspect of modern day business. Here, we will look at an example of Remote Web Access in action. Remote Web Access (RWA) is Server 2012 R2 Essentials remote access.

Students will learn what RWA looks like when it's fully configured. 

In this lecture students will learn what items they need in order to configure RWA on Server 2012 R2 Essentials. 

In this lecture we will go through adding a DNS records for our domain in GoDaddy. 

In this lecture students will learn which ports they need to open on a router in order for RWA to function correctly.

In this lecture students will learn how to configure RWA correctly on the server. 

In this lecture students will learn how to exclude printer IP addresses from the DHCP scope on the Server Essentials virtual machine. 

In this lecture students will learn how to install a printer on their Server Essentials 2012 R2 virtual machine. 

In this lecture students will learn how to add printer software drivers for different PC operating systems to the server. 

In this lecture students will learn how to share the printer on the network so the PC's can connect to it. 

In this lecture students will learn how to configure the Windows health monitoring so they can monitor the health of the server. They'll also learn how to configure email alerts.
