In this course, we’re going to focus on mastering GitHub Actions with a hands-on, real-world approach. Here’s what you’ll walk away with:”
- Understanding the core concepts of GitHub Actions
- Writing and customizing your own YAML workflows
- Using triggers, secrets, and environments securely
- Integrating Docker into CI/CD pipelines
- Automating tests on pull requests
By the end of this video you will be able to setup & install below tools in this course.
1. Github Account
2. WSL on windows
3. AWS Free tier
Walk through the essential tools needed to complete all hands-on projects in this course, with an option to skip if you already have your setup.
Its very simple to use linux environment on your windows machin, you dont have to create virtual machines for learning basics on linux or using git.
Understanding the difference between YAML, XML and JSON.
YAML is a clean, human-readable language for writing configuration files.
It’s designed to be easy for humans to read and for computers to understand. Unlike languages like XML which are filled with tags and brackets, YAML is just plain text with spaces and dashes.
Master YAML data structures by identifying and writing key value pairs, lists, maps, nested structures, list of maps, and scalars, with two-space indentation and comments for real-world DevOps configurations.
If you already have an github account then feel free to skip this session.
In this section, we’ll explore GitHub and the fundamentals of version control using Git. You’ll learn how to track changes, collaborate with others, and manage code efficiently. We’ll cover essential repository setup, and how GitHub streamlines collaboration for modern DevOps workflows.
Check out the Resource tab for addintional content.
Write your first GitHub Actions workflow using YAML, triggers, and jobs; learn to set up ubuntu runner, checkout code, install Node.js and npm, view logs, and manage multi-job workflows.
In this project, you'll learn how to deploy a React-based admin dashboard to AWS S3 using GitHub Actions. We'll build a environment-ready version of the app, pass it as an artifact between jobs, and automatically upload it to a versioned S3 bucket. This project is a perfect starting point to understand how CI/CD pipelines automate real-world deployments without manual effort.
In this part of project we are going to use different triggers, WSL and PRs to update main branch. You will understand how real time PRs are reviewed.
This project demonstrates how to integrate Docker into a GitHub Actions CI pipeline. You'll containerize a React app, create and tag the Docker image automatically in CI. We also cover how to use artifacts between jobs and ensure that the image is production-ready before saving it.
Key Concepts: Dockerfile, multi-stage builds, Docker image validation, artifact sharing between jobs.
Celebrate completing the course and gain confidence to write your own GitHub Actions for DevOps, while staying curious and updating with new GitHub Actions components.
