In this lecture we discuss the capabilities of bypass routing for building patches.
In this lecture I introduce students to oscillators. Oscillators are the origin of sound synthesis. We examine several basic waveforms as well as Massive's wavetable oscillator engine. We also examine the role of oscillator modes.
In this lecture, we take a look at the feedback engine in Massive. We discuss the routing method of feedback and how to use feedback to add warmth and tone to your sounds.
In this lecture, I provide an overview of what filters actually are and their important place in sound design.
In this lecture I describe the routing capabilities of Massive's Filter Busses. We look at the differences between seriel and parallel routing, mixing filter outputs, and sending different oscillators to different filter busses.
In this lecture, we walk through the several filter types available in Massive, examining the uses of each.
In this lecture, I provide an overview of the different modulation sources including Envelopes, LFOs, Performers, and Steppers. I also describe the process by which Massive enables the user to assign these modulation sources and determine modulation ranges.
In this lecture, I provide a brief overview of envelopes and explain all of the envelope parameters within Massive.
In this lecture I show how to apply envelopes to various modulation targets in order to shape a sound's expression over time.
In this lecture I introduce the concept of Low Frequency Oscillators and describe the available controls and functions of Massive's LFOs.
In this lecture we look at some common and some unique ways to apply LFOs to the different parameters within Massive.
In this lecture I describe the Stepper modulation source in Massive. I explain all of the various parameters and controls.
In this lecture, I describe some of the ways users can apply the Stepper in sound design.
In this lecture I provide a brief overview of the Performer modulation source. I cover all of the various parameters, controls, and the methods for building performer curves and sequences.
In this lecture I show how to apply the Performer modulation source to various parameters within Massive.
In this lecture we walk through the controls and parameters located in the Oscillator General Page.
In this lecture we will discuss the Keytracking Oscillator general page.
In this lecture we look at the various controls and parameters of the Keytracking Filter general page.
In this lecture we walk through the Routing page in the center window and discuss signal processing.
In this lecture we walk through the various Global controls located within the Global general page.
In this lecture, we look at placing Inserts within the signal chain.
In this lecture we walk through the several Insert Effect options and describe how they influence a sound.
In this lecture we walk through the various Master Effects and describe how they can influence your sound.
In this lecture we will design and build a classic analog bass patch from scratch.
In this lecture we design a thumping sub bass patch from scratch.
In this lecture we will synthesize an earth-shaking wobble bass along with macro controls to tweak the speed and pulsation depth of the wobble.
In this lecture we will design a soaring Trance lead.
In this lecture we use the performer modulation source to design a tempo-synced synth patch.
In this lecture, we build a classic sync lead using slave and master oscillators.
In this lecture, we will build a cinematic soundscape using envelopes to modulate pitch plus tons of reverb.
In this lecture, we will design a Morphing Pad from the ground up.
In this lecture we design a drum loop, complete with kick, snare, hi hat, and melodic elements.
In this lecture, I show students how to synthesize a basic kick drum in Massive. Then I show some ways to modify the patch in order to create unique kicks.
In this lecture, I show students how to synthesize a basic snare drum in Massive.
In this lecture, I show students how to synthesize a clap sound in Massive.
In this lecture we will synthesize single hi hats as well as build a hi hat groove using the noise generator coupled with the performer.
In this lecture we cover using automation to control parameters in our patches over time. Logic is the DAW utilized in this lecture.

Here's what some students are saying about this course:
"This course is amazing. I've tried to learn Massive through tons of Youtube videos and other sources previously. This course taught me so much more in the first couple of sections than all of my previous efforts combined. Dylan takes time and goes through every single slider, knob, and setting and describes it's function and usefullness. I'm about half-way through the lectures, and I can't wait to get to Section 8 where the knowledge is applied."
- J. DiPalmo
"Dylan's experience on the topic and his ability to analyze and simplify complex materials, compounded with solid presentation skills, rich articulation and enthusiasm throughout this lecture series, resulted in a 5-star winner product."
- A. Stergiopoulos
"Great intro to sound design using massive.. Dylan does a great job explaining the concepts without drowning you in a sea of technical information."
- F. Carvalho
"I am new with sound production and this course inspired me to keep learning. Mr Bowes knows his stuff and he teach based on his own experience instead of just following the course outline. Thanks man."
- Akmal
This course is a comprehensive training course in the popular and powerful "Massive" VST plug-in from Native Instruments. Using 100% high-definition screencasts, you will learn the ins and outs of this software.
After taking this course, you will be able to create huge, earth-shaking basses, lush pads, screaming leads, and even some crazy FX presets.
I created this course because learning the principles of true sound design opened up a world of possibilities for my productions. Massive helped get me there. Now I want to show you how to get there too.
You'll get access to 52 video tutorials. That's over 10 hours of content. Plus I include all of the preset files that we build in the course for free. All for a really great price with a 30 day money-back guarantee. You can't beat that.
You know that you're sick of being a preset-picker. Learn sound design and get over that production plateau that has been making you hate your mediocre mixes.
You will become a master of Massive.

A few words about the methodology of this course. The first third of the course features lectures that describe elements of the software including the user interface, navigating presets, and how to control parameters. The middle portion of the course delves into sound design techniques and modulation assignments. The last third features in-depth tutorials about building specific sounds. If you already have a pretty good handle on Massive (or other soft synths) then you may want to skip the introductory portions. I designed this course to take the student from complete novice to expert. In other words, I wanted a student who has no experience with sound design or synthesizers to feel comfortable. However, I also provide lots of deep content for more experienced users. Plus, if you're like me, hearing someone else explain what I thought I already knew is still very helpful. All that to say, feel free to jump around in the chronology of the course. But don't take the fundamentals for granted.
