Hello, wonderful students!
First, let me share a bit about myself and why you might want to take this course with me. I am a published author, both independently and traditionally, with over thirty years of writing experience. I have a unique perspective, having witnessed the industry evolve from a time when traditional publishing was the only option. Back then, we sent out hard copy manuscripts via snail mail, complete with self-addressed stamped envelopes, and waited patiently for acceptance or rejection letters.
I also experienced the early days of self-publishing, which was initially met with skepticism and threats from traditional publishers who claimed that self-published authors would never be considered "real" writers. Fast forward to today, and we see many best-selling authors emerging from self-published Kindle and print books. The landscape has changed dramatically, with expansive marketing options allowing self-published books to reach readers directly. Communities of dedicated readers have formed, empowering authors and diminishing the control of traditional publishers.
In this course, I will share my personal journey through these industry changes and how it felt to navigate the evolving world of publishing. You'll gain insights into the history of the industry from someone who has lived through it all. More importantly, you'll learn everything you need to know to become an author if you choose to take on this challenge. Your success will depend on how you apply the knowledge and instruction provided in this course.
