Hi, are you thinking about manufacturing apparel in Vietnam? Do you have your custom garment designs ready? Have you already produced locally and now you want to produce overseas to take advantage of getting the same quality at a lower cost? Would you like some professional advice from someone who has been living and manufacturing in Vietnam for more than 10 years? My name is Chris and I have created this introduction course to get you onto first base with Vietnamese factories to increase your chances of success your first time up to bat. I give you my best advice which is to reverse engineer what is possible - in terms of quantities - based on your initial capital investment. We go over some manufacturing math that will help you understand why factories in Vietnam need at least 1,000 pieces per style to move forward with you. Specifically I show you how to figure out your target factory price without contacting the factory. I explain the first three steps you must take before contacting factories in Vietnam: fill in your quantity breakdown list, create your tech packs, and choose your quality control check list. Finally we discuss the importance of having a representative on the ground working closely with the factory to manage development, production, quality control and shipping. After you complete this course you will feel ready to do what needs to be done and start reaching out to factories in Vietnam.
Who this course is for:
- This course is for entrepreneurs who want to produce any kind of apparel in Vietnam.
Hi, my name is Chris. I have been working in the Vietnam manufacturing industry since 2008. My expertise is advising professionals and sourcing factories. I connect you with factories in Vietnam and standby in case you need additional services.
If you are new to manufacturing then we start with a list of production steps and figure out which steps you have already mastered and which steps you need help with. I explain what manufacturing options you have and we focus on what works best for you.
The first major hurdle is to get price quotes and samples. We need tech packs and order quantity breakdown list to get accurate price quotes. If the price is workable then we get samples made. Once you approve the samples then the factory will start the production process. The last step is to implement quality control measures.
I was born in the USA and grew up in Germany. After graduating from university with a Physics degree I worked in Switzerland to improve my German and I worked in Spain to improve my Spanish. I joined the US Navy and worked on a submarine as an electronic technician based out of Hawaii. After the Navy, I worked on offshore-oil-rigs as an electronic technician based out of Houston. In 2008, I wanted to settle down and start a family. Vietnam felt like the right place to do it. I married into a family that owned and managed a sewing factory. This is how I ended up in Vietnam working as an apparel manufacturing consultant.
