Character Design gives us something to latch onto right away. In manga, the way that the characters look is one of the most obvious and important things a manga artist should do to carry the tone of the story across. To further develop your design draw your character from the front, both sides (unless they are exactly the same), and back views. You can also draw additional views if you need to. The reason to do these drawings is so that you will have an all around design of your character.
Chibi is a subtype of the manga style, where the characters are given child-like features to appear cute (small body, huge head, large eyes). The point of the proportions is to give the character as much cuteness as possible. Once you know how to draw Chibis, you may find it easier to draw these cute characters compared to typically proportioned characters.
In this course, Asai-sensei will guide through techniques in drawing Chibi characters and the basics of Character Design and Clothing. Whether you’re a complete beginner, or intermediate at manga drawing, you’ll learn how to tell the story with details.
