Description

Most projects that fail do not fail on technology, budget or schedule. They fail because the people around them were missed, misunderstood or managed too late. A new system is delivered on time and on budget, and users keep working in their old spreadsheets. A design is approved, and then a regulator nobody consulted stops it. This course gives you a practical, repeatable way to stop that happening on your projects.

You will work through the full stakeholder lifecycle, one tool at a time. First you will learn to identify every stakeholder early, including the hidden and indirect ones, and record them in a stakeholder register that stays useful. Then you will analyse power, interest and influence, map your stakeholders and decide where to focus your limited time.

Next you will turn stated requirements into real business needs, assess current and desired engagement levels, and build a stakeholder engagement plan with the right message, channel and frequency for each group. In the second half of the course you will put the plan to work: engaging and leading stakeholders, resolving conflict with five proven approaches, reading organisational politics, and using emotional intelligence when the pressure is on. Finally you will monitor engagement, adapt your plan and close the loop.

Everything comes together in a case study based on a railway level crossing upgrade, so you can see each tool used on a real-world engineering project. End-of-section quizzes let you check what has stuck.

The course is short, focused and practical. Keep a live project in mind as you watch, build the templates alongside me, and you will finish with a stakeholder register, map and engagement plan you can use the next day.
