A few more considerations and thank you for the participation in the course
ISO 45003 is the first international standard for managing psychosocial risks and protecting psychological health and safety at work. Published by ISO as a companion to ISO 45001, it gives any organization — in any sector, of any size — practical guidelines for identifying psychosocial hazards, assessing the risks they create, and taking action to protect the mental health and wellbeing of workers.
Workplace stress, burnout, bullying and poor work organization carry enormous costs — for the people affected and for the organizations that lose their talent, productivity and reputation. Regulators and employers increasingly treat psychological health and safety as part of occupational health and safety, not an optional extra. This course shows you how ISO 45003 turns that principle into a manageable system.
What the course covers
The course opens with the foundations: why workplace mental health matters, the purpose of an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, the structure of ISO 45003, the basic human needs an organization should consider, and the workplace factors that affect psychological health and safety.
It then follows the structure of ISO 45003:
Context of the organization — identifying stakeholders and the internal and external issues that affect OH&S performance
Leadership and worker participation — the role of top management in employee wellbeing and building a culture where mental health can be discussed
Hazard identification and psychosocial risk assessment — recognizing psychosocial hazards and assessing their risks
Support, operation and communication — the resources, competence and processes that make the system work
Rehabilitation and return to work — supporting workers coming back after absence
Incidents, nonconformities and continual improvement — managing what goes wrong and improving performance over time
Real examples of psychosocial hazards
Especially valuable for those implementing OH&S systems, the course provides multiple examples of psychosocial hazards, including poor leadership, toxic organizational culture, remote work and working in isolation, work overload and unrealistic deadlines, difficult interpersonal relationships, poor work/life balance, bullying and victimization, and inadequate or poorly maintained work equipment — along with the controls ISO 45003 suggests for each.
Throughout the course, the guidelines of ISO 45003 are explained in relation to the requirements of ISO 45001, so you get the whole picture even if you are new to occupational health and safety management systems.
