While every company wants a high-performing workforce, very few harness employee performance potential. Nothing affects employees more than the quality of managers. Findings show that the managers who elicit the most out of their team are those who give their teams the most. Not necessarily in terms of compensation, but in the way of communication, kindness, dignity, and support.
A manager’s role is to build a winning team that stays, strives, and says positive things about the organization.
In this module we’re going to look at the sweet spot of employee performance and the role of management communication in this.
Also we’ll take a look at creating a secure base. Secure bases are environments that protect, nurture – and most importantly – provide motivation. During childhood, parents are responsible for establishing a secure base at home, and teachers are expected to do the same in the classroom. It shouldn’t end there. It’s important we remember that managers and leaders need to build a secure emotional dynamic in the workplace.

Become more successful through Effective Delegation
Maybe you think you’ve got everything under control, but you’re setting yourself up for failure if you can’t delegate. As you climb higher up the ladder at work, you’ll find that doing everything yourself is simply impossible. You’re getting bigger projects and have greater responsibilities. Relying on your team is a must.
Delegating tasks can be a difficult thing to change about how you work, but it will make a big difference in your career — and how you’re perceived as a leader.
Sure, if there’s a project that’s been your baby from the start and you know it inside and out, it makes sense for you to finish it. But most tasks can be assigned to someone else (control freaks, I’m looking at you).

Managers know that communication is one of their key roles. Whenever I work with managers the subject of communication always comes up. People want to know how to communicate more effectively, and why people don’t always seem to hear what they are saying when they do communicate.
In those very same organizations, employees wish the leaders would communicate more often and more clearly. They often feel “in the dark” about decisions, plans and future direction.
One of the areas where the gap is widest is in communicating decisions. Decisions are made but the communication of those decisions is ineffective or incomplete.
In this module we’re going to look how you can do this better..

Overcoming Employee resistance
Resistance to change is a natural reaction when employees are asked, to change. Change is uncomfortable and requires new ways of thinking and doing. Employees have trouble developing a vision of what life will look like on the other side of a change. So, they tend to cling to the known rather than embrace the unknown.
No employee is left unaffected in most changes. As a result, resistance to change often occurs when change is introduced.
And sometimes you just need to get into a one on one conversation with the employee that resists the change. In this module I explain how you can bend that resistance.

As a manager you're constantly saying yes: to opportunities, to ideas, to ways to grow the business. Saying yes is a crucial element in your success. But so is saying no.
As a manager you need to learn how to say no more often
In fact, if you want to be successful, you need to learn how to say no to almost everything that comes your way. With success will come an incredible flood of people placing requests and demands on your time –and your time is without a doubt your most valuable resource.
But saying no is not always easy. I believe that people in general have a difficult time turning down others: "Deep down inside we all want to be liked, so we worry that saying no will change the way others view us."
That is something I used to struggle with myself. But not anymore.
To combat this tendency I've created a detailed system which you can see in the next module.
In this Lecture we are going to take a closer look at:
Understand Why and How to say ”NO” to better Control Time and Priorities

The Importance of being able to Admit Your Mistakes
One of the most important things a manager needs to have is the team’s respect. It is an important catalyst that allows you to lead a great team. It cannot be bought. You cannot fool people into respecting you. Respect is earned through actions you take, especially in tough times when the “right” choice is a hard one.
Of course there are a lot of things you can do as a manager to earn respect. One of those is admitting your mistakes and living up to them.
It goes without saying that if a manager expects employees to acknowledge their mistakes and learn from them, then the manager should lead by example.
Yet it surprises me how many people don’t acknowledge their mistakes. Some managers avoid admitting mistakes because they feel it makes them feel weak in front of their employees. They feel they need to always be right for people to look up to them. They might think they are too busy for it. Some even think they are immune to apology since they are the boss after all.
In my experience, admitting mistakes the right way is one of the best ways to earn people’s respect and trust.

Whether you are a new manager or simply looking to improve your leadership skills, most experts agree that one of the most important skills all managers need is effective management communication.
Your ability to communicate effectively can make or break your career.
I personally experienced communication difficulties in my first management job. I started out managing my former peers who were all older and more experienced than me. I didn’t know what to say or how to delegate work, communicate decisions, say “no,” or admit mistakes.
I realized I needed to step up my game, so I studied and researched how to communicate more effectively as a manager. Over time, I discovered communication techniques that made my life as a manager much easier.
All that experience, knowledge, and insight is now included in this comprehensive and practical management communication program.
During the course, I will show you exactly how to apply specific communication techniques and structures to become a more effective leader and achieve better results.
After completing a module, you can immediately apply what you have learned in real management situations, often the very same day.
As you begin applying these communication techniques regularly, they will become second nature.
You will become a leader who gets things done more easily. You will feel more confident because you have the tools and techniques to communicate clearly and effectively with your team.
And this will not go unnoticed in your organization.
Over the past two decades, I have held several management and leadership roles within highly competitive IT environments. These communication skills have helped me successfully manage and lead multiple teams.
My goal is to help current and new managers like you become more effective and successful leaders, benefiting both your organization and your employees.
