Learn to make simple one-bead earrings using headpins and loops, create a dangly component, and attach it to an ear wire to craft various earring styles.
Explore techniques to add beads onto the headpin, using bead caps and spacers to create more intricate dangly earrings with varied design options.
Add bead caps to your earrings by sliding them onto the headpin as you thread beads, pairing caps on top and bottom, and finishing with a loop and ear wire.
Create long dangly earring components by leaving the headpin long, forming an eight millimeter loop with round nose pliers, and finishing with a drop shaped crystal and ear wire.
Learn how to use a jump ring to add more decorative drops to an ear wire by opening it with pliers, sliding the components inside, and closing the gap.
Create interconnected links to add structure and movement to earrings, building on techniques for dangly components to produce a different look.
Open the jump ring with two pairs of pliers, slide the connector eyelet and the last chain link inside, then close the ring to attach the chain.
You will learn how to make earrings in this course. All video tutorials are very detailed, showing each technique step-by-step, which makes this course suitable even for complete beginners. Materials used in each video are listed in downloadable files.
When you start the course, you will first learn about earring-making tools. The tools you need are simple and affordable, you only need two types of pliers and one pair of wire cutter. No expensive tools (such as a heat torch or a jewelry making bench) are required.
Once you understand how to use pliers, you will then learn how to make a simple earring, made with one bead only. You will build your skills as the course progresses. Your next steps will be to learn how to make earrings with links, decorative connectors, bead caps or sparkly bead dividers. You could try all the techniques demonstrated in my videos. Or, you could just select your favorite techniques and use these. The techniques can be also combined to create statement earrings, as will be explained at the end of the course, when I share my design tips with you.
While the techniques in this course are simple, you can create truly exquisite earrings with that 'red carpet look', using highly reflective crystals or genuine pearls, giving your earrings a touch of timeless elegance. If you are looking for just a bit of fun, you can use very simple colorful beads instead. Or, you could upcycle old bracelets and necklaces and turn them into earrings, as I will mention in the design tips section.
