Explore designing your own monster through a step-by-step process of sketching body and head types, selecting textures, and final line art with shading.

Start with a light pencil outline from a dynamic thumbnail, then refine with very thin ink to shape the face, horns, bat-like wings, and scales using a lines-first approach.
I recapped the drawing process, tested poses and sketches, and chose a snake-bodied creature with a humanoid upper body, bat wings, and a dragon-like reptile head with spikes.
