Training for macOS, with Jon Hartman

This class will focus on features that allow you to organize your open applications and desktops.  We will discuss Expose', Launchpad, Mission Control, and multiple desktops.  These features allow you to choose what information you want to view and how. You will learn skills that will allow you to access your applications and information in the best way!

The centerpiece of everything macOS is System Preferences. Customize your Mac to make it work best for you! Everyone is different; Here is where you make your devices work for you. We will learn about Bluetooth, printers, networking, security, trackpad, sound and much more. It’s all here. Make (macOS) Catalina your own.

In this class, we discuss two applications: Disk Utility and Time Machine.  We use Disk Utility to erase and format hard drives and thumb drives.  We use Time Machine to back up the data on our Mac. If you never want to lose data again, this class is for you.

Learn how to create a family account with Apple. Take control of your technology and limit your kids’ access to adult content and inappropriate apps. Limit times & durations of technology use for your kids. You can also save money by sharing your Apple purchases and iCloud storage within the family.

This class takes an in depth view into System preferences; Printers and Scanners. You will learn how to setup printers and scanners over wifi.  We will take an in depth look at the process of scanning and the myriad of choices and functions that are available.

This class delves into Apple Mail.  Learn how to setup accounts and sync information to all your devices.  We will discuss Mailboxes (folders for email), so you can manage and find all your important communications. Whether you use Gmail, Comcast, iCloud... etc, Apple Mail is the one stop shop for everything email on your Mac.

Your contacts database is the most important hub of information on your Mac.  It's everything you know, about everyone you know.  This is how we communicate and connect with friends, family, and colleagues. At the end of this class, you'll be able to create new contacts, edit contacts, create groups, and ensure the syncing of your data between all of your devices.

This class will help you understand how to use the Apple calendar to manage where you need to be and when you need to be there.  We will discuss all aspects of the calendar including reporting events, alarms, syncing, color coding, multiple accounts and much more. By the end of the class, you will have a new comfort level with how you manage your time.

Learn to surf the web like a pro! This class will delve into the functions and features of Apple's internet browser, Safari. We'll learn about search, tabs and bookmarks. We will also discuss Reminders and Notes; Two great applications to keep your life in order and get things done.
