Welcome and thank you for buying my stickfighting programme. You can use these techniques to expand your current style of martial arts or to start your martial arts journey.
In this video I explain how to hold your weapon and how to improve your stance.
In this section of the course, we will practice all techniques separately so you can focus on having the wright movement.
The basic X strike is probably the most used strike in stickfighting. That is why we want to learn these first.
Make sure you:
- Rotate the body
- Always point your knuckles forward
- use your left hand to check
Goodluck with practicing
After the X strike we go to the horizontal strikes, these strikes are pretty simple to learn.
You can strike and pull your stick back or pull it through. It depends on what your oponent is doing and with what strike you want to continu.
Make sure you:
- Twist the body
- Practice it with different strikes
- Add footwork
You can use pick ups for coördination and switching your weapon from your right to your left hand.
The first pick up will go under your armpit so u can take it with your other hand.
The second pick up will go over your shoulder and your left hand stays in front of your body.
In this part of the course, we will be combining the previous lessons and make some simple combo's. Of course, you can make your own combo's when the basic strikes are in your muscle memory
