To remember:
- The menus on the left side of the screen correspond to the construction mode, while the menus on the right side take us to the rendering options
- Within the menu on the right we find the ¨configuration ¨ menu with which we can adjust the preview values in our construction mode.

- Height keys: QE
- Movement keys: WA SD
- Low speed: space
- Accelerate: shift
- Accelerate x2: shift + space
- Pivot: O
To remember:
- Imported objects are stored in Lumion libraries to be able to access them in successive times more easily
- All Lumion elements are selected for subsequent manipulation through a ball that will be activated when we are in the category corresponding to the selected object
- When we import a model from abroad and we want the changes that we have made to it in its native program (for example Sketchup) to be applied in Lumion, we must update our model in Lumion
To remember:
- We will carry out the transformation of objects paying special attention to the plane in which we want to move or to the plane in which we want to move the selected element, marking the corresponding option
- Lumion automatically detects surfaces of imported models for easier placement of elements
To remember:
- Lumion's object libraries are very complete but it must be taken into account that many of the models that we can find in them can be improved from external libraries
- The vegetation library is remarkable for its enormous quality and quantity of elements.
To remember:
- For the placement of numerous elements in our scene, it is recommended to use the placement options such as: mass placement, group placement and painting placement.
- Emphasize that group placement can lead to deception, since it does not generate groups, understanding groups as we have been doing so far.
- The use of groups is recommended to move a set of objects more easily
To remember:
- When we import an object into Lumion and we hover the mouse over it, two colors can appear: green and yellow. The first tells us that this material does not have a Lumion texture assigned to it. Yellow, on the other hand, informs us that this surface has already been assigned a Lumion texture.
- The materials that we can find in Lumion are very numerous and of high quality. Special mention should be made of stone and metallic materials, as well as glasses that give an outstanding result in renderings.
- Although we have material numbers at our disposal, it is recommended to use textures from the outside to enrich our projects, since those that Lumion offers will be used by everyone.
To remember:
- Lumion's options regarding the landscape offer us the possibility of creating mountain ranges, valleys, seas, lakes and a long etc ... We must understand that we have these options for editing the terrain on the terrain of Lumion, not on our models that we import . That is, we will have as a table where to edit our relief and landscape and where we will place our model
To remember:
- The time in Lumion can be configured from our build mode for a first visualization, but we must bear in mind that when we go to rendering mode (photography or film) we will be able to make a greater number of changes through the FX effects.
- It should be noted that if we use real skies, the traditional sun movement options are disabled since we would be working with spherical HDRI images that offer higher quality and photorealism
To remember:
- The photography mode offers style templates in which the main FX effects that Lumion works with are loaded, each with different associated values depending on what you want to achieve.
- It is recommended the modification and customization of these FX effects as indicated in the course and the inclusion of new effects not included in the templates.
- Thee effects can be saved in an external file for later use in other projects, or they can be copied from one photo to another with ease
To remember:
- The artificial lights can be found in the objects panel of the construction mode
- The combined use of artificial lights and natural light is recommended
- To achieve more realistic effects we must combine the use of focal lights, multidirectional lights, as well as the use of emissive materials
To remember:
- Video clips in Lumion are based on the rendering of many images that will result in the sensation of movement to the human eye (minimum 25 images per second).
- Outside images and even videos may be included in our videos, which will be combined with our recording.
- For a better result of our animations we recommend the use of animated objects, ambient sounds and special FX effects for animations such as advanced movements, mass movement, artistic effects, etc ...
To remember:
- The panorama mode offers us the possibility of generating a 360-degree rendering around the point from which we take the photograph
- For 360-degree viewing of said photograph, either the native Lumión application must be used if we have the full version of the program, or we must use external software. The use of the website is recommended: panoramaviewer in the latter case
To remember:
- The post-production of a rendering refers to the passing of our image through other software for its ultimate improvement. The most widely used software for this purpose is Photoshop.
- For post-production we recommend rendering the different channels that Lumion offers, in addition to the main image. These channels are: the depth channel, the reflectivity channel, the light channel, the material channel, the normal channel and the alpha sky channel. We will have to choose which ones we are most interested in rendering for our post-production according to our tastes and acquired knowledge.
- It is recommended to use alpha sky rendering, reflectivity and light rendering mainly
- Once in Photoshop we can divide the work process into three phases: work on imported channels, work on general adjustment layers, work on adding and subtracting elements from the scene
To remember:
- The 5 tips to improve our renderings are:
1º- Use quality models
2º- Use quality textures
3º- Correct photographic composition: rule of thirds and rule of movement
4th- Correct use of FX effects
5th- Postproduction
In this LUMION course we will start from an initiation level to finish finishing the course by mastering the program at an expert level. And this is not just words. We will do it. I have put all my effort and knowledge to achieve this goal. There is just one condition...you will have to finish the course.
We will learn all the tools of LUMION 11 such as: libraries, materials, landscape, weather, animations, sunlight, fx effects, animated phasing, post-production and much more. It is a very complete course equivalent to 20 teaching hours where theory and practice go hand in hand through numerous exercises that will increase in complexity as more knowledge is acquired. It is designed to end with an expert knowledge about LUMION that will allow us to face any project successfully, no matter how complex it may be.
My way of teaching consists of first explaining the theory of the tools, so that later the student can repeat the same steps that are shown in the videos and is able to master the program. Likewise, exercises are proposed at the end of each module and a final exercise to definitively learn to use LUMION correctly.
LUMION is a rendering program that has revolutionized the 3D viewing software market due to its ease of use, as well as the speed and quality of its renderings. It is a program designed for architects, urban planners, landscapers, engineers, draftsmen, surveyors, interior designers, product designers and actually any professional in the design sector. It stands out, unlike other rendering programs for its intuitive interface and for the fact that it performs a preview of the render in real time, which allows working with a deep knowledge of how my transformations affect the model the moment they are applied.
