Instructor
I am known by many as the 'Listening Doctor'. However, I call myself the 'Listening Master Student'. My personal and professional mistakes brought me to seek to become a better listener. This journey began in 1987 and continues to this day. In addition to my daily listening practice, I've been privileged to be able to use listening as the focus of my career of teaching listening and leadership for over three decades.
I serve as a Professor at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. I created the first Listening course at the College in 1992 and have had nearly 3,000 students participate. In 2012, I was selected as one of the top 300 college professors in the nation by the Princeton Review. I am a past president of the International Listening Association, was inducted into the Listening Hall of Fame, and am a Certified Listening Professional.
I have also authored/co-authored 3 listening books: 'Listening Leaders'; 'Listening Pays'; and 'Be Quick to Listen'.
Additionally, I am the president of the Leadership & Listening Institute, Inc. and have worked with thousands of leaders from a wide variety of organizations on their listening and leadership skills.
My goal is to provide you with a practical and "real world" approach to listening education and development. I focus on action learning in which you can achieve measurable results if you commit, learn and apply.
