Description

Video has become by far the best way of engaging with a LinkedIn audience, which means businesses need to be able to create great video content.

That's certainly proved to be true for my business, and so we needed to find a way of creating videos quickly and inexpensively, which meant avoiding lengthy production processes and costly specialist skills and technology. I'm glad to say that we found a way! Our video production process takes about 45 minutes per video, and ZERO other cost!

So that's what you'll learn in this training course. I'll teach you how to quickly and inexpensively create short, professional-looking videos for uploading to LinkedIn, using nothing more than PowerPoint. That's right, just PowerPoint! If you can create a PowerPoint slide deck, I'll show you the clever techniques to easily turn slides into impressive video.

During this short training course, the emphasis is on speed and simplicity. If you're like me, you haven't got time to be mucking about too much with video, you've got a business to run! During this course, I'll share a downloadable copy of the PowerPoint file I use to create an example video, so you can start creating your own LinkedIn videos right away.

So what are you waiting for? Let's get you creating LinkedIn videos!

Here's the finished video that I'll show you how to create. You may find it useful to come back and watch this video a few times whilst you complete section 4 of this training course, as it will remind you of the end result that the following steps combine to create.

The first thing to do, is show you an overview of how the process I'm going to teach you works. This will give you an overall understanding of why each step I take you through is important to the end result - a great video!

How it all works
01:23

The really great thing about this method of creating video, is that it's simple, quick and inexpensive. So you don't need much at all in terms of tools or equipment! But, there are just two or three things you'll need to have, so let's have a look at that short list.

+ Preparation

As is often the case, it's a good idea to do a little preparation that will help you to quickly and easily create a professional-looking video. In particular, there's two things you need to prepare in advance. One is to capture the colours used in your company's brand, so that you can reflect them in your video. And the other is to acquire some other third-party content if you wish to embed it in your finished video.

One easy way to make sure your video creation process doesn't get too complicated and take too long, is to use a checklist of things that you need to keep tabs on as you go. So here's that checklist, which you'll use during section 4.

+ Key techniques

PowerPoint has a lot of functionality. But out of all the things we can do with PowerPoint, there are just a small number of techniques which we can apply to make a PowerPoint slide show work as a video. In this section, I'll tell you what those key techniques are, so that you can quickly become familiar with them and use them repeatedly when creating your video.

Preview 00:45

Fundamentally, in order to turn PowerPoint slides into a professional-looking video, you need to know how content like images and text is arranged on PowerPoint slides. So that's what we'll cover here, first.

Layering and masking slide content
01:24

Sometimes, you'll need multiple pieces on content to appear and behave together in your video. To do that, you'll need to merge them so that PowerPoint treats them as a single item of content. So that's what I'll show you next.

Merging slide content
02:13

Animation is the PowerPoint tool we'll use to control the appearance and behaviour of content within each slide (or frame) of your video. So here, I'll teach you how you'll be using animations to make sure your slides work smoothly as a video.

Managing slide animations
02:02

Next I'll teach you a little bit about transitions in PowerPoint. Transitions are what we'll use in PowerPoint to control how our video moves seamlessly from one slide to the next, which is again essential for making a slideshow that works perfectly as a video.
