Explore integrated circuits as the heart of modern electronics, covering linear and digital ICs, op-amps, comparators, waveform generators, voltage regulators, 555 timers, PLLs, and D/A and A/D converters, with applications.
Explore the basics of the operational amplifier, its differential inputs, high open-loop gain, saturation behavior, and common applications like comparators and active filters.
learn to solve op-amp numericals by applying inverting and non-inverting configurations, using voltage gain formulas, virtual ground, and Kirchhoff's current law, and design with summing, scaling, and implementing equations.
This course on Linear Integrated Circuits (LIC) is designed to provide a clear and structured understanding of operational amplifiers, timer circuits, phase-locked loops, and data converters. The course begins with the fundamentals of integrated circuits and gradually builds toward practical applications of IC 741, IC 555, and IC 565.
Students will learn the working principles, characteristics, and analysis of Op-Amp circuits including inverting, non-inverting, integrator, differentiator, and comparator configurations. Important performance parameters such as slew rate, bandwidth, CMRR, and frequency response are explained in a simple and analytical manner. The course also covers 555 timer operations in monostable and astable modes with waveform analysis and time period calculations.
In addition, learners will understand the basics of PLL using IC 565 and the fundamentals of data converters including ADC and DAC concepts. Emphasis is placed on step-by-step derivations, numerical problem solving, and exam-oriented preparation. Practical examples and commonly asked university questions are discussed to strengthen conceptual clarity and application skills.
This course is ideal for engineering and diploma students who want strong conceptual clarity along with practical understanding for university exams and laboratory applications. By the end of the course, students will be confident in analyzing, designing, and troubleshooting linear IC-based circuits effectively.
