Please note this update with regards to the new ISBP821. As per old version ISBP745, missing the LC number on the stipulated documents is raised as a discrepany. But a subsequent opinion was issued later and it was added to the ISBP821.

As per that opinion, below two cases will happen.

Case 1: LC condition calls for the LC number to be shown on the documents. Even if the LC number is not shown or any typo errors noted, the same will not be raised as a discrepancy.

Case 2: LC condition calls for the "LC number as per Import regulation" to be shown on the documents. In this case, if the LC number is not shown or any typo errors noted, the same will be raised as a discrepancy.

So, the catch here is, "how important the LC number requirement is". If the LC number is just going to serve as an administrative control to organize the documents or it is a mandatory requirment as per some regulations; will determine the fate of the discrepancy.
