Description
When attached, leeches secrete an analgesic, which numbs pain in the human host. They also secrete beneficial enzymes and an anticoagulant which inhibits the formation of blood clots, and also help dissolve existing blood clots. Blood vessels are dilated by other leech-secreted enzymes, improving the circulation generally. Secreted antimicrobial substances kill bacteria and other pathogens.
When we have good blood flow and good quality blood we can heal better and more quickly. Leeches can help regulate and improve your blood due to huridin and over 100 bio active chemicals in their saliva. This course covers the history of leechcraft, contraindications & benefits of leech therapy. There are several indications for leech therapy that are not effectively managed by modern medicine. Using leeches which are a natural treatment you can avoid going on stronger and more medication that may have unpredictable side effects. This is an all round course with hands on advice for leech application including the natural vampire facial, skin condition, shoulder condition, sporting injuries, diabetes, arterial plaque, myocarditis and piles. Ancient and seemingly scary this therapy has many benefits and could be a reasonable alternative for those seeking a non pharmaceutical therapy. We will cover keeping leeches, application of them and we will also touch upon more advanced treatments that we do not cover in this beginner course. We will cover potential side effects, how to treat them and how to manage your patients expectations. Support on how to deal with dressing wounds post treatment and general advice for giving treatments. This is hands on and theoretical.
