Acquire the key terms used during the leather sandal making course to build a solid foundation for your leather sandals.
Select a matching shoe last, wrap it with three layers of tape, mark the center and sole edges, then cut along the rim to create the sandal pattern.
Mark and align leather straps, punch buckle holes, apply tape for strength, glue straps to the lining, then hammer and trim for a secure sandal.
Stretch and secure the front straps around the shoe using guiding marks, nail near the edge, then hammer the straps flat for a smooth finish and plan to glue later.
Shape and smooth leather sandals by sanding the insoles and edging straps, trimming the upper layer with a sharp knife, and dusting away debris to create flat, almost unnoticeable seams.
Cut the sandals' soles from thick 3–5 mm material following the pattern, add about 1.5 mm to each side, then edge and glue before stitching to prevent tearing.
Grind and shape the sole and insole of leather sandals, flattening the layers and smoothing edges, then grind along marked lines on both sandals for a smooth, even finish.
Take sandals from the last, hammer the edges, fix holes, and stitch them to finish the leather sandals, noting nails in the middle.
Mark glue areas and attach cork stripes to sandals, measure the sole length plus one centimeter, cut and glue, trim excess, and repeat for the second sandal.
Punch holes 0.6 millimeters apart along the leather sole on a marble plate to avoid damage. Stitch with two needles using a one-millimeter waxed thread and secure the ends.
