Description

Welcome to this essential e-learning course on Learning to Learn, developed and produced by Dr. Neil Thompson, a well-published author in the people professions field, an international conference speaker, and a sought-after consultant. Learning is an integral part of everyday life, something we are naturally familiar with. However, this familiarity does not automatically mean that we are actively making the most of every learning opportunity we encounter. In fact, it is fair to say that, despite the continuous emphasis on the importance of professional development and learning, relatively few people actually achieve optimal learning. This deficit often occurs because we become so focused on the urgent task of simply getting our job done that we fail to leave the necessary mental space for drawing out and consolidating the learning from our daily professional experience.

The overall aim of this course is to help you broaden and deepen your expert understanding of what is truly involved in learning, what can actively prevent it from happening, and what specific steps you can take to maximize your learning capacity. The course has been developed to help you understand what is involved in learning, how learning can be blocked, and what can be done to make sure that you learn as much as you reasonably can from every situation. The course structure comprises a short introductory video followed by six main 'lessons,' a concluding video, and a certificate of completion. To consolidate your learning and undertake the core exercises, you will need to download and print the Module Companion E-book. Invest in the skills of metacognition to unlock your full professional potential and permanently increase your rate of learning.
