10 Years Experience
I work with adults and adolescents who experience anxiety, panic, low mood, low self-esteem, as well as trauma, psychosis, and difficulties with relationships. I also complete neuropsychology assessments and compile reports for people who are suspected to have acquired brain injury or who may be worried about certain cognitive deficits, like memory or attention-based problems.
Given people are complex and each person is unique, I believe it is important to see each person’s individuality and work with them in a collaborative way to meet their needs and goals. I also feel it is vital to ensure that a warm and safe space is created where we develop a sense of trust and we feel able to explore the person’s experiences. I draw upon a number of therapeutic approaches to help people including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I use these approaches flexibly to ensure that we are working on the problem in the most helpful way.
Finally, I am conversational in Arabic and I am aware of different cultural backgrounds and values held particularly in Middle Eastern and Asian societies. I appreciate that such backgrounds, beliefs, and values may also add another dynamic to therapy and I would like to work using this in the most meaningful way possible.
