This video course will help you gain a foundational overview of what to expect out of most beginner yoga classes.

If you have done less than 10 yoga classes then you'll find this course helpful because we break down each section/series of a typical yoga class into much more digestible chunks.

+ Typical Sections of a Yoga Class
9 lectures 01:08:01

Here we talk about a few basic poses and moves that help you get warmed up for your yoga class. It may be some gentle neck-rolls, Cat/Cow pose, and/or your full-body-breath. Don't worry, the names are not too important at this point... Just keep going!

Getting Warmed Up
10:28

This video details all the various movements you'll find in the Sun Salutations portion of a yoga class. This is slightly more challenging that other lectures in this section, so if you haven't gotten up and physically performed some of these postures I strongly urge you to do so.

Once you have a solid understanding of this section, you'll have no trouble with the remainder of this course.

Sun Salutations
15:45

The Warrior Series is one of the most popular you'll find in a typical yoga class. We will look at Warrior II, Triangle Pose, as well as Reverse Warrior.

Warrior
09:14

The Standing Series in a yoga class can be one of the more challenging sections. If you need to work on your balance then this is the section for you! We will take a look at Tree Pose, Eagle, and Dancer's pose.

Standing Series
10:47

After you are fully warmed up from all of the previous sections we will dive into a restorative series. We will dive into a few different postures such as Pigeon, Hero Pose, and Bound Angle.

Restorative
07:23

Typically before you really start to wind down in a yoga class you'll do one or two postures that help to strengthen your lower back. I've included Locust Pose and Cobra.

Lower Back Series
03:17

Before relaxing on your back for your final pose (shavasana) you will do a few more basic postures that help with digestion. I've included Wind Removing and Supine Twist.

Pre Shavasana Series
04:10

I know it may sound silly, but Shavasana gets it's own section in this video series. It's such a vital part of any yoga practice that you should always make time to include this deeply relaxing pose at the end of every yoga class.
