Description

This course equips participants with the essential skills to navigate challenging conversations with confidence and empathy. Through a combination of theory and real-life examples, participants will learn strategies to foster open communication, manage their emotions and achieve positive outcomes in tough conversations.

The curriculum begins by exploring the typical conversations that are often deemed as too difficult to have.  It then looks at the psychology of difficult conversations, helping participants understand the underlying dynamics and emotions at play. It then delves into active listening techniques, teaching participants to genuinely hear and comprehend others' perspectives.

The course covers assertiveness, enabling participants to express their thoughts clearly and respectfully. Conflict resolution strategies are emphasised, offering tools to defuse tension and find common ground. Additionally, participants will learn how to be the adult in the conversation and how to calm down angry or emotional people using a recognised strategy.  Throughout the course, emotional intelligence is a recurring theme, emphasising self-awareness and empathy. Participants will gain insights into managing their emotions and recognising emotional cues in others. By the course's end, attendees will possess a comprehensive skill set to approach difficult conversations with newfound confidence, fostering healthier relationships and constructive outcomes.
