What you'll learn
- Read simple Level 1 Books, identify the alphabet letters and sounds and recognize sight words.
- Sound out simple words and have a basic knowledge of phonics.
- Parents will know how to support their child's reading development ensuring they learn to read with fluency and comprehension.
Requirements
- Your child needs no prior learning or reading skills, as this is an Entry Level Course for Beginner Readers. As parents the only thing you need to bring to the course is a desire to help your child…I teach you how to help them. The first section of - Learn to Read for Beginner Readers - contains videos where I teach you how to best help your child learn to read. You'll learn how to introduce a book to a beginner reader to ensure a successful reading experience; how to make sure your child is reading for comprehension; reading strategies to use when your child doesn't know a word; instructions on how to effectively use the Alphabet, Sight Word and Level 1 Book videos. I also teach you about the vowel sounds so you have some background knowledge of these important sounds.
- Students will need a computer or tablet to view the videos. There are additional activities that can be downloaded and printed off using a printer.
- I also suggest that you have several story books that your child loves in your home. The Video Books in this course are designed to teach reading skills and while they contain some great pictures, but they don’t replace a beautiful picture book story that you can read to your child over and over again. You can borrow books from your local library or purchase some "special" books to read to your child.

Most of the course is in video format and practical - the videos teach your child directly. It's like having a highly experienced teacher in your home 24/7. There are also follow-up Learn to Read activity sheets you can print off and use with your child.
I also teach you how to help your child learn to read. You will learn all the skills that professional reading teachers have to ensure that your child is reading for comprehension and fluency.

After Taking Learn to Read for Beginner Readers
Your child will be able to read simple Level 1 early reader books. They will know the sounds of the Alphabet, be able to sound out simple Phonic Blends, identify many Sight Words and successfully read simple learn to read Video Books.
You will have learned new essential skills to help your child throughout their learning to read journey...including what to do when your child can't identify a word, how to introduce a book to maximize your child's chance of a fluent reading experience and how to encourage your child to read for understanding or comprehension.
