Description

Learn with Marco Lienhard, who has been teaching and performing internationally for over 35 years. We will, through our courses, teach you to play the Shakuhachi and better yourself. Make sure to record yourself and listen carefully to your sound and listen to where you can improve your playing.

Better your Shakuhachi playing as you learn new and fun melodies. You will learn a few songs from Studio Ghibli during this course. You will work on the pitch, meri, yuri/ vibrato, and end of phrases. You should be able to read the music to follow the course. It is best to learn to play playing songs that you are familiar with, it will help you hear your pitch.

Make sure to practice each section over and over before moving to the next lesson. Once you are familiar with the song, you can play your own interpretation of the music and have fun with it.

Make sure to use a 1.8 Shakuhachi ( D) to follow the course, also make sure your flute is correctly tuned!

We also offer 1 on 1 and workshops for those who would like some guidance.

I recommend taking lessons here and there to make sure you are not building bad habits. Sometimes it is hard to tell what might be wrong, so for that, a teacher will be able to help you out. The main part also of course is the instrument. there are many Shakuhachi out there and be careful in choosing your instrument. I see a lot of flutes that look very nice but are quite out of tune and I would not call them Shakuhachi.

We can help you with some guidance if in doubt.

Who this course is for:

  • You will learn to get better at playing the Shakuhachi, while learning to play fun and popular songs. this is especially designed for fans of the Shakuhachi and Studio Ghibli music.
