Do you want to learn about a well known Indian community's folk art? Do you want to bring back the folk art culture and make a gorgeous folk artwork all by your self? If yes, then welcome aboard!
'Gond paintings' are a form of folk and tribal art practiced by one of the largest tribes in India.
This tribal art-form is as old as the community itself - that is, at least 1400 years.

The people of Gond Tribe had a belief that viewing a good image begets good luck and thus they decorated the walls & floors of their houses with traditional art work.

Gond paintings are a reflection of man's close connection with his natural surroundings. While a majority of Gond paintings do take inspiration from nature, it isn't the only source of ideas. They also turn to the myths and legends of India or showcase images from the daily lives and dreams in their art.

In this beginner friendly class you will learn -

• Intro and basics of Gond Art

• Different patterns of Gond art

• The Mahua Tree & Birds Illustration (as shown below)

Materials

The Materials you need for this class are very simple. I will be using Acrylic colors, Brushes & a Canvas sheet, but you are free to use any medium you are comfortable with eg- watercolor, gouache or even Alcohol/Acrylic Markers or even just Fine-liners.

This class is mainly aimed to give you and idea about this beautiful artform. You are not expected to create a masterpiece or be judged. all you have to do is- trust and enjoy the process, and have fun creating a nature-inspired, grounded, humble and unique artwork. Aaand show it off in project gallery!
