Don't worry if you don't understand all the differences right now, I just want you to know what software is right for you. Either choice will work for this video series. We'll be using Vegas Movie Studio over pro, since the majority of beginners have movie studio, but you'll be able to follow along on pro very easily. Sometimes with Pro, you might have MORE options than you'll see on my video. That's ok. Just read and choose the same one as in the video. There's a lot of jargon in video production and video editing. A quick explanation of the history of video editing gives a lot of the names and acronyms used in video editing and Vegas a helpful context.
We go over starting a Project in Vegas Movie Studio and what project settings you should choose. You are welcome to download this video (with no audio) to experiment with as you learn.
We cover the basics of adding media to a timeline.
We discuss tracks and fades and cross fades as basic functions.
We render out a final video from the timeline with basic render settings.
We are starting work on a slideshow as our first video project. This video details photo manipulation.

This class is a recreation of my college introduction to editing course but updated to include Vegas software and common internet standards for video. You will learn editing theory as well as how to use Vegas Creative Software Products Movie Studio and Vegas Pro. You only need Movie Studio (the cheaper consumer version) to complete this course. You may use Vegas Pro as well. This course is great for anyone from a beginner to a more seasoned hobbyist looking to learn editing theory and Vegas software.
