Collar Couture for Her: How To Design A Distinctive Neckline

In this Patternmaking Course, you will learn how to draft and sew a beautiful custom collar to create a fitting neckline for any outfit.

A beautiful collar is a great add on to a great shirt. It requires a mix of style and technique to get it right.

Course Structure:

In this course, I show you how to impute measurements to draft a 2-piece collar consisting of a collar fall and a collar stand.

I start the course with the basics, sharing how to get a properly sized design with appropriate shape and curves. We start with the neck measurements, and also the appropriate points to construct the collar assembly. You will develop both of these patterns completely and clearly for the final design.

Next, we continue to adding the seam allowance for the collar joining. This allowance is added over fabric, to all appropriate edges for joining together and with the final shirt. We next cut out this pattern onto a nice fabric, to be ready for a quality assembly.

Finally, we continue to sew the collar fall, from two pieces with a stay for firmness on all edges. We then sew the collar stand pieces on the the collar fall and add the appropriate notching for attaching to the final shirt.

This final design will be assembled onto a model for review.
