This is an introduction to :
(1) What is the meaning of Augmented Reality
(2) Who are Zappar
(3) What you need
This lecture is on:
(1) what are the features of Zapworks
(2) how do Zapcodes work?
This lecture is on the practical uses of the technology. For example:
(1) In Education
(2) For personal use such as invitation cards, business cards
(3) Marketing : Ads in Augmented Reality
This may be you first encounter with Zapcodes. So take a moment to try the Zapcodes available on the Zappar website. Try them using a number of devices if possible (Tablet, Desktop, Smartphone).
This is a first look at the tools available from Zappar. There are three tools:
(1) Widgets
(2) Designer, and
(3) Studio
There are a number of options for licenses to choose from. If you are using Zapworks for personal use, e.g to make your AR business or birthday day, a personal account is what you should create. If you would like to create an ad campaign for your business, then a business license is what you need. You are able to try the business license for 30 days for free. After this period you have two choices (1) Basic package and (2) Pro package. Choose the latter if you would like to use Studio.
This lesson is about the simple steps you should take to create a Personal Account and get you ready to start playing with Zapcodes.
Widgets is the simplest among the Zapworks tools. You will be able to easily create a Zapcode simply by add you contents and publish the Zapcode. You can add several pictures and videos, and when the AR is viewed, all will appear around the Zapcode.
In this lesson you will be introduced to the Designer tool and will take you through the steps to create a small practical and fun project. You will create a Party Invitation card which display AR contents in the form of a Video that sticks to a picture on the card, as well as interactivity with buttons on the second scene. The buttons will be tied to a very simple php page.
Zapworks Studio is the more flexible and expert tool from Zappar. It allows adding custom animations to your Zapcodes. You will be able to Preview but to Publish with Studio you will need a full license.
In this lesson you will learn how to start a simple project with Studio. This project will consist of adding a Plane to the 3D view and add a script to the Plane. You will be able to make it disappear on tapping the Plane on your mobile device when opened with Zappar app.
Zapworks allows using an image for tracking purpose so that the animation is centered with reference to the image. The animation will also follow the orientation of the image. In this lesson you will learn how to add an image by training and use it.
Controllers and States are central to animation in Zapworks. This lesson explains how to create a simple controller with two states and show how this can be used to create a simple animation.
Timelines is a step further from Controllers and States. Timelines give control over the transitions between states to create more flexible animations.
A 3D model is given below in the form of a .pod and this lesson will show how to add the model to a Zapcode and add some animation to it.
A video can also be set as material to a Plane. This lesson will show how this is done.
Bezier is 3D curve that defines a path in space. In this lesson, we will create a simple Bezier curve and add a 3D Zapbot to the project. We will create a basic animation by making the Zapbot follow the curve, as well as rotating. We will make use of two controllers: (1) for the Bezier curve using the distance property and (2) for rotation of the Zapbot
This course is designed to encourage the students to develop Augmented Reality animations and display media contents using the ready-to-go Zapworks tools.
The course starts with an explanation of the various tools, licenses and how to get started.
There you will start to learn how to work with Widgets. To learn about Designer, you will make a Kids Party invitation card which shows an Augmented Reality video and also allow a basic poll on whether the guess intends to attend or not.
The next topic deal with is the use of Studio. This is the most flexible tool that allows the creation of fully customized Augmented Reality animations.
