Learn these Retro & Vintage Inspired Hairstyles!

This is a very popular updo look. Victory rolls can be hard to do but my ponytail system takes the guess work out of learning this style. Enjoy and stick with it, you will get better and better each time and will go to this video over and over again. It can easily be adapted into a half up look by leaving the bottom section out but setting the hair in Hot rollers. 

At first this one may feel hard to manage but it is one I know you will master. It is meant to be loose and a bit different in the back each time. The front will always be on point and become a classic go to vintage style!

Even thought I totally made up this design, it still feels vintage to me so I added it in here. This one can easily become an all up style by adding a couple of ponytails and continuing with the large pins curls. That is what is good about a system. They can all be adapted to a clients desire.

If you are a hairstyle history buff like me you will remember seeing this type of curl in older looks, books, or Pinterest photos. When I was a kid in the 70's some of the older ladies still did their hair this way, I was fascinated!

These classic curls can be put into any updo hairstyle and are a good curl to know. Curl placement, teasing and pinning tips will also help you in your current work.

If you are doing curls for body and an updo prep, be sure to clip each curl after you make it. Once they are cooled, let them down and begin your hairstyle!

Hot rollers are a great tool to have for your updo clients. I see many people rely on using just a curling iron but mastering hot rollers saves time. Setting a client in hot rollers gives her a break to rest emotionally for her upcoming special occasion and allows you to start on another updo increasing your per-hour intake. This is also a great time to send her to the make-up artist. If a client sits a long time in one spot they can get antsy and stressed. We want to prevent that for her special day!
