Meet a 17-year-old economics student and seasoned Rubik's Cube solver as they share seven years of solving, memory training, and workshops, highlighting focus, patience, and problem solving.
Learn the skewb using a beginner's method, solve the cube from scratch, and master a one-minute solve with engaging, step-by-step guidance.
Learn how to solve the skewb with clear, practical methods and approach the puzzle with confidence.
Identify the skewb’s six colors and their opposite pairs, and distinguish centerpiece from corner pieces. Learn how centerpieces and eight corner pieces interact to move a piece to the top.
Learn the Skewb notations and how to hold the cube, then apply right and left side turns—clockwise and anticlockwise—using the top, front, and right or left centers to solve scrambles.
Learn to solve the bottom layer by orienting the white centerpiece on the top and completing the four white corner pieces around it to form a solid bottom.
Learn to solve the four yellow corners on the skewb by keeping the white bottom and applying a simple algorithm. Handle two cases: no top corners or two diagonals.
Learn to complete the yellow color on the skewb by solving the yellow face after the top layer, keeping the yellow center behind you and applying a 180-degree turn algorithm.
Master the final step to complete the skewb by resolving the remaining centerpieces and selecting a bottom color. Align opposite colors and apply the established algorithms to finish the cube.
The Skewb is a combination puzzle and a mechanical puzzle in the style of Rubik's Cube. It was invented by Tony Durham and marketed by Uwe Mèffert. Although it is cubical in shape, it differs from Rubik's construction in that its axes of rotation pass through the corners of the cube rather than the centers of the faces. There are ten such axes, one for each space diagonal of the cube. As a result, it is a deep-cut puzzle in which each twist affects all six faces.
