An introduction to your lecturer, Tanita Southon
A detailed list and demonstration of materials needed for this course
The outline of this list is: acrylic paints, paintbrushes, a palette/container lid for mixing paints on (an old lid from an ice-cream container works pretty well), a palette knife, a water jar, empty 'squeezy' bottles and a canvas of choice
Step-by-step instruction taking you through the initial stages of your painting. This lecture involves the underpainting of foliage and you will be shown how to produce different leaf-like shapes with different brushes.
Introducing the 'Palette Knife'. In this lecture, you will be shown how to use a palette knife to produce abstract poppy-like shapes. Some suggestions and tips for composition will also be included.
Painting abstract lavender is not as hard as you think. In this lecture, I will break the process down into easy steps for you to follow.
In this lecture, you will learn the process of painting abstract daisies using fine-tip 'squeezy' bottles which are easily bought at your local art/craft store
A step-by-step demonstration and explanation of how to paint abstract spring flowers using a round brush
Finishing touches and final details will help bring your painting to completion. This lecture takes you through those stages step-by-step.
A step-by-step instructional course to guide you through the process of painting 'abstract-ly' with acrylic paints. This course is designed for anyone who would like to give abstract painting a try - whether you have painted before or not.
To get the most out of this course, collect all the materials you need and paint with me while you watch so that you can apply what you are learning straight away. You can easily pause so that you can complete the steps instructed and then continue the course at your own pace.
Many of the steps in this course have been super simplified to make it easy for a first-time painter to follow along, apply the techniques, and produce a beautiful piece of art. Each video/lecture in the course addresses one step in the process and every step within that, has been broken down into bite-sized parts as well. Through demonstrations and explanations, students will be able to apply what they have learnt on to their canvasses. The course teaches a variety of skills; from learning how to mix different tones, to making use of a palette knife. Students will also learn about different brushes and their applications, as well as some compositional pointers.
One of my main goals with this course (and any of my courses) is to take the 'fear factor' out of art-making and to enable or empower people of all skill-levels to express themselves in an artistic way and hopefully for them to enjoy themselves in the process. Art shouldn't only be for those with "natural talent" or ability, but for everyone. We all have something inside that we need to express and my hope is that this course will help you to do that in a way that will leave you feeling happy and like you have accomplished something by the end of it.
