SmartView covered in the course is related to what you can do within Oracle Fusion ERP.

SmartView can be used for quickly inquiring balances from the multi-dimension GL chart of accounts cube. You can slice and dice the cube to retrieve the balance for your analysis. SmartView formulas like HSGETVALUE can be used to make very specific reports where you can have different POV dimensions for each line of report to meet your business requirements.

You can also create multiple sheets within your Excel file and each sheet can hold different SmartView contents. This is very useful when you are creating your monthly/quarterly/yearly reporting pack. By clicking Refresh button, you can refresh all the sheets in one go.

SmartView is a common tool used by ERP and EPM modules. There are certain features/functions which are only applicable to EPM module e.g. updating the data etc. These features are related to EPM modules and are not applicable to ERP.
