A mental map is simply the way that our brain records something. In Photoshop, many people think of it as a complicated program with hundreds of windows and options. So, I want you to change the way you think. Focus on just three blocks to represent our three windows.
Open and name a new Photoshop document, set pixel dimensions and resolution, and use the layers panel to view by layer bounds, add layers, and apply a layer mask.
Alpha Channels or Layer Masks are images that are linked to an image that show where it will be visible, and where it will be invisible. While you are on a layer, click the Layer Mask icon at the bottom of the layers. It is a small rectangle with a circle. Then, you will see a small layer mask option on your layer. Selecting on the layer mask, you can paint black in the box and it will make parts of your image invisible. Everything in grey will be semi opaque relative to how light or dark it is.
Learn how opacity and blending modes affect a layered image in a two-layer setup. Apply multiply for dark areas, screen for light areas, and overlay as a film-like top layer.
Apply blending modes, including multiply and overlay, and layer masks to combine photos, textures, and lens flares, adjust opacity, and refine edges using brushes.
Layer Styles are located on the bottom of the layers pallette. They are a great way to add nondestructive effects to a layer. They include: Bevel & Emboss, Stroke, Inner Shadow, Inner Glow, Coler Overlay, Pattern Overlay, Outer Glow and Drop Shadow.
What do you do if you want to change the color saturation of your entire image. Or play with the contrast? Since your image is made up of lots of lots of different parts, you can't just go in and change the contrast of one layer. Wouldn't it be great if there was some sort of blanket layer you could put on top of the other layers that would effect all the layers below it? Well, that's exactly what an adjustment layer is. If you want to change contras, color saturation, boost colors, change colors, make image black and white, whatever....as they say...there's an adjustment layer for that. Located on the bottom of the layers panel, click the circle that looks kind of like a Pepsi logo. You will be given a series of options that allow you to adjust the color information of every layer below it.
Note: You can also just add a solid color with this button.
Explore adjustment layers in Photoshop to non-destructively adjust color and contrast with curves and layer masks that affect all layers below.
Explore nondestructive editing in Photoshop, learning how edits stay non-permanent and reversible, enabling flexible adjustments and the ability to revisit changes at any time.
Learn the difference between raster and vector graphics, how raster uses pixels and how vectors use mathematical paths and handles, and when to use Photoshop versus Illustrator.
Learn how smart objects preserve high resolution and enable nondestructive editing in Photoshop by working with a reference file, so scaling preserves quality and you can access the original file.
Learn nondestructive editing with smart filters and smart objects in Photoshop, using Gaussian blur to adjust a blurred smart object without permanent changes.
Master Photoshop shape tools, exploring vector versus raster shapes, anchor points, and custom shapes, then learn to use alpha channels and shape subtraction to create complex, editable designs.
Experiment with the Photoshop type tool to create text using text boxes, choose fonts from foundries, and justify text left, center, or right for clean web-ready typography.
In the second part of this lecture we are going to quickly desaturate the reds using the Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer. This is a quick way to make make the face look less irritated and more even.

Give me 1 Hour and I promise you will never be afraid of Photoshop again. In fact, you will see how fun it can be.
Why do so many people shake in fear at the thought of trying to learn Photoshop. I know it is a huge program, but the truth is you only ever end up using certain things. In this course I will show you exactly what use every day and leave out all of the fat.
Photoshop has been around for a long time. And while it is constantly innovating and making our lives easier, Adobe very rarely takes out the parts that don't work anymore. It's understandable. Many designers don't want to relearn the program every year. So Photoshop has become kind of like a hoarder. Full of a lot of junk that it just can't bring itself to throw away.
Another important thing to understand. Most online classes want to be thorough. They think they have to each you every single tool and effect and walk through step by boring step explaining how to use tools that nobody uses anymore.
Why is this course different?
I'm not here to teach you all of Photoshop. To be honest, I don't know anyone who knows everything you can do with Photoshop. The program updates so much that you can either work as a Graphic Designer, or spend all your time learning what's new.
If your goal is to become a graphic designer, this is a very good first step. If your goal is simply to open Photoshop documents and know where to go...this is also the course for you.
If you have been working with Photoshop for a while and want an advanced class...this isn't the course for you. However we do cover some topics that are considered advanced. I just consider them cool...or really good to know.
Give me just an hour and I swear you will never be afraid of Photoshop again!
After we get up to speed with Photoshop, it's time to learn how to make some dough!
I will show you some of my favorite techniques to find new clients.
We begin with a quick hour of training. Then, using the tools from the training I will show you a few key skills that I use to generate income. After that I will show you some ways to find clients. Here's one of the keys, you don't want to try and find jobs where everyone else is. So forget Elance and other job boards. I'll show you what actually works.
As I add more to this class the price will go up. So I recommend you get in early. Once you buy this class you will be in for life. So it could go well over a few hundred dollars, but you may have only paid $59.
In this course we will learn the following:
If you are not 100% satisfied that this course is worth the price you paid, I will give you a full refund.
