Learn Music Rhythms

In this lesson Seth will teach you the importance of finding the one in music. He will run you through some examples to help you to understand how to find the one and count the beats. 

In this lesson you will learn how to sing and count the duration of a whole, half and quarter note and their rest counterparts. You will be given a bunch of examples on how to verbalise each of these rhythms and how to mix them up.

Seth will introduce the concept of rhythmic clichés and test your knowledge by singing various rhythms using previously learned clichés. Your task is to identify what types of notes he is using.

Seth will illustrate some relevant examples of what it means to cross the line. This way you will be able to write rhythms that are easily understood by other musicians and prevent you from crossing the line.

In this lesson Seth covers some of the hardest rhythms to understand. He is going to mash up all the clichés by tying and dotting them into complex rhythms. Fret not because he will teach you the mathematics to count these rhythms.

In this lesson Seth will break down to you how to understand pitch in music scores. He will make a clear illustration of the relationships between the treble and bass clef using a piano drawing and guitar. Explanation of the names of the notes, lines and spaces will be written clearly.    

C4 on the guitar is A - string / 3rd fret. In this video the instructor plays "C5" which is, 1st fret on the B - string. The instructor uses C3 on the guitar for demonstrational purposes only.

In this lesson Seth covers sharps and flats, how to go above the ledger lines and how to read and write a melody using quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes on the staff. He will teach you how to systematically breakdown a melody on a staff so that you understand how to sing and play it.  

The final exam will cover 30 measures of notes and concepts explained over the course. First you will have to read or sing and then with your instrument you can play the exam.
