Hiii!!! My name is Federico. I am a singer/composer/producer. I have a Bachelor Degree in Music. In this video I will tell you a little bit about me, and what we'll be covering in this course. I am going to show you everything about music, step-by-step. So, come on in! Welcome.
Sound is the vibration that two clashing objects produce. This waveforms are perceived by the ear and interpreted by the brain. In this lesson we will see what characteristics define a sound.
We will talk about the history of musical notation, and how it evolved through time until what we know today of modern sheet music, staves, notes, etc.

There are two simple requirements for this course:
- Staff paper
- A tuner. It can be a physical tuner, or an app/software. You can find free digital apps and tuners in the web.
- In this lesson you will learn about the different elements of a staff.
- You will learn the musical notes.
- This lesson is theory and practice.
I will show you in this video the difference between the placement of notes on a keyboard vs. guitar.
I totally recommend seeing this video, even if you don't play guitar.
In this lesson we are going to learn what rhythm is. We are also going to learn the name of each note and the value it represents. This is a theory and practice lesson.
When you finish the dictations please send them to my email so I can correct them fedemusicacademy@gmail.com
In this lesson we are going to learn what pitch is. We are going to do some exercises so you can internalize what pitch is. This is the beginning of solfege. This lesson will help you develop your musical ear. The objective is to learn how to transcribe music to musical notation. This way you can learn songs easier, but most importantly you can play those songs later just by reading the notations you wrote.
Music has a lot of different volume changes. This makes music more pleasant and fun. Classical music emphasizes this characteristic more than modern music. We will learn what the different symbols mean, and their functionality in music.
One of the most important characteristics of a sounds is its timbre. This is what is going to identify it as unique. We are going to learn what timbre is, and why each sound sounds different than another. Why a violin sounds different than a piano: than an oboe. We ill also learn how we can use timbre effects on our playing.
Harmonics is the basic physical phenomenon that happens behind the difference in timbre. We are going to explain why this is so, and how we can exalt some of those harmonics with different playing techniques.
Do you want to learn how to read and write music, but you don't know where to start?
I will show you in a fun and engaging way all the characteristics of what a sound is so you can have a holistic basic understanding of what music is comprised from.
In this course for beginners you will learn the musical notes, what a staff is and many more.
This is a theory and practice course. I believe that only theory courses don't let you assimilate the content in its full potential. This is why we are going to learn with theory and practice to really internalize all the concepts of the course.
First we are going to learn a little bit about music history, to get an understanding of where things come from, and why they are the way they are. We are going to identify the different elements of a staff, and learn the different notes that exist. Like I told you besides the theory, we are going to practice. I am going to make some dictations so you can start training your ear.
The last section is divided in four parts, where we identify and explain each characteristic of a sound: pitch, rhythm, dynamics and timbre. All of this lectures have fun and engaging exercises so you can learn while you enjoy the process.
